Got the prosciutto with fig and goat cheese. I liked the spreads enough. I guess I'm just a cured, dried meat kinda person. Should've gotten the salami cause it looked delish. I really was looking forward to getting a bite here. Maybe next time.

I passed by this place many times. Wanting to check it out. The decor is wonderfully warm and inviting.
Dinner for two. We shared some appetizers. Pretty good stuff. But more than anything we couldn't wait to try the drunken chicken. It sounded divine. And our server gushed about it.
SALTY! Oh man was it ever salty! I loved the way they prepared the chicken by frying it 1st. To keep it crispy, and then smothered it in sauce. But it was oh so salty! I think it was MSG city, cause I got a bad headache later.
The black rice she suggested to accompany our meal was the best thing we had. So good, that I went out, bought some at Uwajimaya's and attempted to recreate it. I think I've finally got it down.
My curiosity has been quelled.

The sushi at Saito's is yummy. Make no mistake of that. Generous portions, fresh products. But what stood out the most for me was their Sake menu. And how knowledgeable the staff was about each item on it.
At our servers suggestion, we got various hot and cold sakes to sample. Each one she recommended was unique and yummy.
Lots of fun, nice surroundings. Check it out!

What can I say about Shiro's! This place is great. Fresh fish. All the yummy traditional sushi you can handle. Blue-fin tuna prepared with a blow torch and a little magic that has this fish tasting like Kobe beef. And man was the place crowded. But it is worth the wait. Try to sit at the sushi bar so you can watch the action go down. I saw a chef peel a cuke with a huge knife. Such a formidable looking apparatus for such a delicate process. IT'll mesmerize you!
Wherever I travel, a great sushi bar is an essential find. And all I can really say about Shiro's is this Seattle, I've found it.

Didn't like the experimental soup of the day, but our gracious sever swapped it for fried with a sauce she digs instead of the chipotle ketchup. Genius!
Didn't dig my drink special. Got the old standby Grey Goose tini instead. And what a wallop it packed! These cats can pour! Hummus plate yum, house salad yum.
Don't let that eye scare you! Go in! Eat! Drink!

When I asked local people about eating at Sky City, they were all adamant about one thing. "Don't!" But being the good traveler that I am, I wanted to check it out for myself. Apparently they haven't had the best rep in the past. But everyone deserves a chance.
It was a party of three. We started with the Foraged Mushroom Soup (which we never got), and the Sesame Crusted Ahi, as well as the house mixed greens. Now Ahi, I'm picky on. I grew up on an island where it flowed a plenty. And so that's the Ahi I'm used to. But although this wasn't the best grade of Ahi I've seen, the taste was there. And the presentation was your basic, clean restaurant style. The mix of blue cheese, pears, and the huckleberry vinaigrette was a delightful palate pleaser. Wish I knew what the soup was like.
Now for the entrée, I figured since I'm in the Northwest, why not salmon. The Alderwood Smoked Salmon came with quinoa. That interested me, so I ordered it. Honestly, my fish was a little mushy and the whole dish was good, but nothing special.
We ordered a smoking dessert, literally. It was an ice-cream sundae presented over a bowl of dry ice for effect. Well, the ice-cream was no grand Tahitian vanilla bean or anything. Plain old vanilla with a boring chocolate syrup. Disappointing.
For the price we paid, we didn't really get a meal on par with it. But the view was spectacular. I guess that's supposed to be the clincher anyway.

Being rather new to Seattle, and a bit of a foodie, I was so excited to stumble onto E Pine St and into the delectable Green Papaya. Not only is the decor very upscale and inviting, we were greeted by the owner. While we placed a take out order, he made sure we had water to drink.
They got all your faves. From spring rolls to green papaya salad. But these spring rolls are extra delish peppered with taro, minced shrimp and chicken. They call 'em White Tiger Rolls. I call them YUM! The Calamari is perfectly tender, with a bit of heat.
And if you luv eggplant...Get the caramelized eggplant in a clay pot! You gotta try it for yourself.
This place is fantastic!
