Atlanta's best acoustic venue 8/18/2005

Eddie's Attic focuses on one thing, and it does it well. That one thing is not the food, which is mediocre, and not the bar scene, which is conducted in whispers. It's all about the music, and almost exclusively acoustic music. Eddie's sound quality is superb and the venue has rules which encourage the audience to listen, and most people abide by that. It's known as a place where local music comes to get discovered, and if you go to one of the numerous open mike nights, you'll see the next John Mayer or Indigo Gal wanna-be. But on the weekends Eddie's will usually have a headliner and charge a modest cover. Most of the music is folky, singer-songwriter stuff, but I've seen an electric show. I also saw a great classical cellist there. I love the fact that people go for the music, not to be seen, so you can be casual. And the place is full of small tables, so you'll get a seat unless the show is a sell out. more
