Elliot's Natural Foods stocks the usual assortment of organic foods, health foods, and the plethora of vitamins, minerals, and supplements common to most stores of this kind. There is a freezer section and a small produce section. Where they go wrong, however, is in the bread section. This is almost an afterthought here, with a few loaves, bagels, and the like stuffed into a tiny end cap. As a person who was allergic to wheat during grade school, my parents used to have to buy soy-based bread at a natural food store. I was unimpressed that they carried nothing like that here. There is also very little in the way a rolls, whole wheat, and other bread products.

The Adventure Zone's main attraction is its laser tag arena. There are two stories with plenty of places to hide, snipe, and hold up. Some places are advantageous to have a few friends provide cover, and some places are death traps if you're caught in them. They play loud music and have black light illuminate the course, so it is hard to see, and a bit disorienting. You can't aim at the center target on the sensor rig, but the gun and shoulders are targets. The Zone offers a variety of game play, and can track your score via computer. There is also special pricing available, my favorite is the Friday night Midnight Madness, where one price gives you unlimited games until midnight.

If you're tired of the little go karts at Scandia, this is the next step up. Think of it as the difference between lasertag and paintball. These cars (not really karts) top out at around 40 mph, and trust me, you don't want them to go any faster. There are two courses most days, and on one day of the week the courses are combined into one monster track. The cars are easy to drive, hard to master. You can easily spin them out by going too fast. The price of admission includes a head sock, equipment rental and a race. It is an expensive sport to get into, but it's well worth trying. Staff are professional and try to keep as much rule-breaking to a minimum as possible.

Sunriver cleaners is an excellent dry cleaning establishment. The staff are friendly, and the turn around time is low. They have never returned anything in poor condition, nor has anything been lost or damaged. The prices are right in line with the industry standard. The store is conveniently located in a plaza. Sunriver also offers other laundry services, like pressing and cleaning. Overall, a great place to take your dry cleaning.

The Sacramento Natural Foods Co-op is a place to buy organic food, essential oils, and other health foods. Of course, as strict vegans will tell you, any animal is subject to the exact same treatment, and therefore meat should be avoided, but at least this meat is better for you. One interesting facet of this store is the availability to become a shareholder. By paying a certain amount of money, you get a voting share of the company, and can also get discounts at the store. Overall, this is the perfect place to find those items that you can't get at the local chain grocery, and the prices to non-owners is a little high, but not unreasonable.

This store is a great alternative to shopping at those seedy stores on the bad side of town. Kiss N Tell is owned by women, and women are the target shopper. That doesn't mean guys are unwelcome, and this is a great place to shop as a couple. They sell marital aids of all types, ranging from books and accessories to novelties and videos. The store is clean, well-lit, and professional. The only down side is the video selection, which is not very big. Overall, this is a safe place for both sexes to shop from ages 18 and up.

The layout of the Book Bag is very cosy and tidy. Not like the larger stores that seem to be cluttered and wall to wall books. All the titles are shelved neatly, and the entire experience is relaxing. Staff are polite and friendly. This store is good for the mass markets that you might want to pick up. I didn't see a lot of rarities here, but all the major bases are covered. This is the kind of place you want to go on a rainy day, just to see what's there, and maybe pick up a bestseller on the cheap.

This is a good shop to go for the back issues that you can't find. Comic Book Heaven often has a good assortment on hand, for a reasonable price. However, the staff are nothing to write home about. Every time I hear "can I help you find something" it always has this tone of "buy something or get out." I have seen people in there who chat up the staff, and I can only conclude that they are either much more frequent customers, or a personal friends. There are certainly friendlier places to shop, but if you can't find it online, you might be able to find it here. Of course, there isn't a lot of room in this place, but that just means it's wall to wall comics!

I own a Subaru and a Saturn. Now, conventional wisdom states that a domestic car will have more repairs, but be cheaper to repair, while a foreign car will need fewer repairs, and be more expensive. Well, somehow Maita Subaru go against the grain. The repairs for similar work (distributor replacement for example) have been cheaper here than at the Saturn dealership. Every time the Subaru needs work, it ends up costing about 75% of what I would have expected to pay for the same repair on my Saturn. The staff are friendly, and take the time to explain things in plain English, without sounding condescending. They are flexible, have good shuttle service, and are all-around a great find! It is always a hard thing to find good car service and repair, and I feel lucky to recommend this dealership. There have been two instances where the staff have made a mistake. Once when they couldn't locat ethe shift-lock release, and once when they didn't correctly diagnose a problem. When they didn't diagnose correctly, they knocked the previous labor off the current repair. Just what I would expect to maintain a good customer relationship!

This store really only does one thing, and does it well: sell produce. Their selection is very wide, and the quality is always very good, and the prices are lower than the major chains. The staff aren't terribly friendly, but who cares? With this store, and some of the other markets in the area, why would you ever need to visit a major chain ever again? They also carry some of the stranger things that you just can't find at the major chains, and unless you want to go to Chinatown, you'd have to otherwise do without. You just can't go wrong shopping at a store like this; low prices, supporting local business, getting your fruits and veggies, all in one place!
