If He's Stuffed-Up, What Can He Do For My Child 8/18/2005

I took one of my children to this dr for treatment of a chronic lung disease, and while he was examining my child, he kept sniffling. I started wondering to myself what the heck was wrong with this picture? He either has a cold, or he has allergies. But...he's an Allergist, so it HAS TO BE a cold. Well, in either light this wasn't good news to me. I don't want my child with the chronic lung disease to be examined by a dr with a head cold, and on the other hand, if he's an Allergist, why doesn't physician heal thy self? If he can't treat himself, how's he going to treat my son? Thankfully I give benefit of the doubt, and returned with my child in two weeks for a follow-up exam. His sniffles were due to his long flight back from India where he goes yearly to assist the underpriveledged. Dr Kantak has served a purpose as a stepping stone to greater health care. He is a Pediatric Upper Respiratory Specialist, and co-director of the Cystic Fibrosis Treatment Center in Fargo. There is ample sitting room in his lobby, with a lego table AND legos for the children to play with, along with books to read, and other toys. There is also a tv tuned to childrens programming. Sometimes the wait is long, especially in high allergy season, but none of the children seem leary of being 'next' in line, or walking through the door to the exam rooms. If you're looking for a specialist in this field, he's one to go to. more
