The world's only full scale 100% size replica of the parthenon of Athens is located in the heart of Centennial Park, along with a great walking path and a nice little bond. There are great fields for throwing a party (must reserve through parks dept) or for throwing a frisbee.
During the summer the park hosts movies every couple of weeks at night and it's a great community event and it's free! The park can also be a nice setting for a romantic event with a beautiful flower garder on the west side of the park and at night the Parthenon is lit up and stands tall and mighty.
If you are driving down West End in Nashville it's worth at least five minutes to pull into the park and check out the Parthenon, if not spend the $5 of $10 and take the tour inside the building.

Never have I walked into the Nashville Bicycle Company and left without a smile, I usually leave buying something too. The employees in there aren't just helpful and nice, but they are riders too, so if they don't like something or don't think something is a great fit for you, they'll tell you. They aren't just trying to sell you the most expensive piece of whatever type of product you are looking to buy, they are looking for you to be comfortable and enjoy what you are purchasing.
This place is awesome and as long as I'm in Nashville anything that I need for my bikes will come from this store.

There is only one Grand Ole Opry and if you come to Nashville don't live without a visit to the Opry. It's funny because so think they aren't country music fans, then have the time of their lives at the Opry.
The Opry isn't about country music it's about entertainment. Every Friday and twice on Saturday this group of preformers with acts like Porter Wagoner to Vince Gill you never know who the Opry will bring out and it might not even be someone who's scheduled to be there.
The pay for performing is next to nothing and the people that are there are there to be part of something bigger than themselves. If you are in Nashville, and you have a free evening the Opry is an activity that is 100% pure Nashville and 100% pure entertainment - well worth the cost of admission.

If you are looking for a sweet place to ride your skateboard in Nashville look no further than 6th Ave. They had a sweet park before and then about six months ago they went and made the park even better. With ramps, jumps, gaps and rails everywhere in addition to a pool in the corner any skate boarder or in line skater will not be disapointed with what they find inside the park.
The cost is reasonable for such an amazing park and if you are under 18 they'll require a signed waiver from mom or dad to skate. I'm not exactly good and last time I tried to skate there I ended up with a bruise on my hip that didn't go away for two weeks, but I enjoy watching the people who know what they are doing skate the park because they seem to enjoy, so if you are one of those people, I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

I met Aaron through a friend about a year ago and told him that my wife and I were starting to head into a scary time in life, the buying of our first home. I told him that while I knew real estate agents were useful they were expensive and I was going to try and and buy the home without using one. I had thought I could buy the house for less from the seller without an agent.
Aaron said he understood my position, but politely challenged it by saying that he might be able to save me even more money than the seller would have to pay him and I would end up coming out ahead in the end, even by using him.
As we continued in the process and began the looking process we gave Aaron a shot. Not only did he find us a place we never would have been able to find on our own, he had a relationship with the seller and their agent that did indeed secure us more money at closing, and more things in our place than we would have on our own.
Aaron is a great agent and if you don't already have one, I wouldn't think twice about recommending him.

Don inspected our house and I'm sure glad he did. He found things that 1) I would have never found and 2) a lot of home inspectors would have glazed right over. Since most home inspectors are just contractors looking for a little extra work they don't go over the small stuff.
Well since we were buying a brand new place and didn't want to have to deal with anything at all, it was nice to have someone on our side who went over all the stuff, big and small.
If you are looking to buy a house in Nashville, have Don look it over. He'll charge a little more than most home inspectors, but he's probably more thorough than he even needs to be, which I suppose is a good thing when making such a huge purchase.

If you've got some coin to throw down on an interior designer, don't go with anyone else other than Kathy Anderson. I got to know her work through her son who is an old friend of mine and it's amazing. From homes, to schools, to businesses, to churches she's done it all in town and it all looks amazing.
With an understanding of southern tradition and modern style her designs rock and I can't imagine you'd ever be disappointed with anything she'd ever do. While we couldn't afford her for this project, we did hire someone who worked with her quite a bit on one project, and the work her disciple did on our house was amazing, so I can't imagine having the master herself.

A friend works at this firm now and check out their website and you'll see that they truly are the best in town. Designing nearly every building of meaning in the Nashville Metro Area it's clear that there is one leader in architecture in Nashville and it's Tuck Hinton. If you are looking for the best architect in town, look no further than these guys, but from what I understand it’s quite a waiting list if you’d like them to design a home for you, but it’d be so worth the wait.

This Y is good for the after work crowd, but don't expect a ton. The machines are all what you'd expect, good but not the best. The gym is small so don't expect any great level of pick up games, expecially since the club that opened up down the road has a much better gym and that's where the pick up games are now.
The outdoor pool is finally back up and fixed and seems to be doing well, the indoor pool is a little dodgy looking, but it's alright.
The overall feel of this Y is just a little dingy, but if you are looking for somewhere to run after work (if you work in this area) this is a good option, but even though I'm a member at this Y, I usually can be found at the Green Hills Y.

Dr. Durocher is as good of an eye doctor as one could hope for. Never have I waited longer than five minutes past my appointment time to get into my examination room, always is the doctor helpful and the staff is always great to deal with. Ever since I've gone there I've had nothing but positive experiences except for once, and they rectified beyond my wildest imagination.
One year I went in there and ordered a pair of glasses. The lenses in the glasses never seemed right to me and I returned to the glasses shop portion of their office two or three times throughout the year trying to tell them that the lenses didn't seem quite right. They sort of blew me off and I just ended up not using my glasses much that year.
The following year when I had my appointment and shared that story with Dr. Durocher he not only appologized and let me know that the glasses shop manager had recently been changed because of customer service issues, he paid for my lenses for the following year.
The guy is committed to customer service and that's quite a rarity, so I can't speak highly enough of him.
