If life should keep us in Nashville and our incomes allow there is no doubt that our children will go to Ensworth. I've had the opportunity to spend a little time with the headmaster (great guy) many of the parents and some students and it's an amazing place.
Their emphasis on community involvement, the outdoors, and a well rounded lifestyle produces atypical private school kids. Rather than turning out bratty spoiled kids, Enworth is able to produce people who are aware of the world they live in and appreciate the blessings they've received.
If you can afford it, there is no substitute.

In addition to providing leadership training they have job training programs which give people there the opportunity to learn a trade that will support them in the future.
They also provide AIDS relief to people who are already affected by the awful disease and try to make their transition as easy as possible.

They have stuff that's on sale outside, inside is a little dingy, all the books are cheap and there are more books than you could ever look through. Located right across from David Lipscomb on Granny White they are easy to find and there is usually a parking spot open right in front.

Hiller Plumbing's trucks all have smiley faces on them for those of you not familiar and the smile matches the service. We were looking to put in a tankless water heater and as I consulted the Home Depot and doing research on the internet it became clear we'd need professional installation.
I called Hiller because I'd heard their ads on the radio. I spoke with Jimmy Hiller and he informed me that the product I was looking at was not of the quality that it should be and it wouldn't work as it promised on the internet. We then discussed other options that could help our situation and he was super helpful, and he did it all for free.
Any plumber who is willing to consult with you, help you and talk you out of products that aren't good for FREE is alright in my book.

Illusions, located a block from the Belle Meade Mansion is everything you'd expect it to be. It's nice, it's expensive and they do a very good job. While I've never had my hair cut there I get my eye brows waxed there whenever my wife tells me it's time to go.
Mallory is who I always see and she does an awesome job. She's very pleasant and is as delicate as one can be as they are ripping the hairs that God clearly intended to be there away from your face.
If you are looking to keep your eye brows high and tight and you've got $12 or $13 bucks to do it, go see Mallory, it'll hurt, but not too bad.

If you are a guy, heads up green hills definitely meets your needs, if you are a girl, don't expect a salon type atmosphere, Heads Up is closer to a Great Clips than a salon. However, for guys haircuts Kim does an awesome job and I would highly recommend her.
Heads up has this weird policy where a walk-in hair cut costs x, but if you walk in and ask for a certain person or make an appointment they charge you an extra $2.00. After having a few of the people there butcher the crap out of my hair, I know find it worth the $2.00 to ask for Kim and make sure it's done right. Also make sure to ask for a towel around your neck, otherwise they'll use that scratchy tissue paper which is uncomfortable and doesn't keep any hair off your neck.

Best to try and visit the store during normal working hours because parking can be tough after hours in the parking lot behind the shop or on 21st.

For new books in Nashville there is no substitute for Davis-Kidd. They are moving soon back into the Green Hills mall so their store will go from huge, to super huge. Inside there is little difference in selection between them and a major chain, but the staff is much friendlier, the vibe is far superior and the cafe is awesome.
If you are looking to support a local book store David-Kidd in Green Hills is a great choice.
