this gem of a restaurant is almost a secret. they have a solid menu that runs from soups to salads to entrees. the waitstaff is charming and the atmosphere is relaxing. and in this small restaurant the tables are situated far enough apart so you're not having to compete with your neighboring tables to see who can actually be heard. insiders secret: the wines are reasonably priced -- one of the few restaurants in the city where this can be said. and save room for the tapas style sampler dessert :)

this inviting french brasserie offers a lovely range of menu items. i love the fact that when you sit down your waiter brings a baguette and butter. then you can start with the best french onion soup this side of the atlantic. as for menu selections -- i haven't tried anything i didn't like -- but if you order the mussels, be prepared to share -- i've never seen a larger plate. also save room for the beignets, which are to die for.

this restaurant has put tudor city on the map! l'impero has won rave reviews from critics and diners alike. scott conant's inventive brand of italian cuisine is flavorful and genuinely delightful. my favorite is the foie gras agnolotti -- who would have thought of such a thing? the desserts are not the highlight of the menu -- so satisfy your appetite with the pasta dishes. the dining room is lovely and romantic though the banquet tables afford too much acquaintance with your neighbors at the next table.

this is a great addition to the neighborhood. it's not going to win rave reviews from the critics, but this restaurant has an extensive selection on its menu, and everything is done very well. there are no surprises on the menu, but the quality is excellent. also the prix-fixe menu is a good value, and offers the best selections on their menu. it's rarely full -- so no need for reservations either.

Great deal -- and it allows you to experiment with the NY theater scene. note: you must watch the website regularly and keep refreshing it to catch the items as they go up so as not to miss anything -- when a broadway production goes up -- it sells out quickly.
