I have been using these folks to send flower to my mom and wife quit a bit over the years. They have a variant rose known as the Kamuela Rose, grown on the Big Island of Hawaii. They are very close to where I used to work, which is why I use them less now hahaha. But the good stuff about them is they include a small box of chocolates with their arrangements and have a custom box for holding the vase and chocolates! Very nice touches.

Once again, while traveling on business I have stayed at the Aloha Beach Resort on many occassions, in fact I believe after 10 nights you get one night free, I need to find that punch card... Anyway during my trips to the Aloha Beach I found the accomodations fine. They do have a small fitness center with a rather old weight training center. No free weights during my stays, for cardio work they had a stationary bike.
Oh yea, cell phone coverage was almost non-existent in the rooms.

While on a one day business trip to the Big Island (Hawaii) I stayed at the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel. The rate was fair, of course that's the rate Kamaaina (Hawaii residents) pay, I am not sure what mainland travelers would pay. Anyway its close to Hilo town, but quite a ways from the volcano if you want to take a trip there, pretty much your entire day will be shot going and coming back.

Yes folks, you read that right. They probably have the cheapest gas on the island. Why? that's a mystery, but do I use it in my car? Only if I can't make it to another gas station. However, the benefit of cheap gas is apparent to the business traveler. Fill up your rental cars at Aloha Gas, that's what I tell the folks that come from the mainland to visit us.
Look for the stylized blue/green "A" wave.

You read that right business traveler. While they may not have the most locations among the dry cleaning competitors, each location is fully self contained. They do the cleaning/pressing on premise. Look in the back of the counter and you'll see all of the equipment. The Ala Moana location would probably be the most convenient for the business traveler.
Check out their website for monthly coupon specials. Remember, I try not to pay full retail for anything!

McCully Bicycle has been around for seems to be forever. I recall going to "Busters" in Waipahu which I believe to be the beginning of McCully bicycle, my first real BMX bike was a "Cook Bros." if any of you are old enough to remember the name. If I am not mistaken the both are the same family.
McCully bicycle has a large assortment of sporting goods which include fishing supplies, road bikes, off-road bikes. I actually purchased two off-road bikes with dual suspension several years ago. They are still hanging in my garage today! At the time they were the best value I could get, even compared to the big box retailers.
Pretty good parking up on the roof.

My favorites have become the chocolate chip and the ones with the Arare (rice crackers to the non-locals) mixed in with the batter. Be forewarned though, after a bunch of these, a floss and brush will be in order before you can speak to anyone without giving off a strong halitosis breath.

My wife purchased all of the custom fitted muumuus for her brides maids there, and the usher dudes got aloha shirts. We thought why rent tux's and buy corny brides maids dresses that will never be worn again. Their authentic line of Hawaiian wear was not really bright like the normal "touristy" stuff I mentioned earlier. Classic designs include ti, koa, kukui, taro, ulu and a few others.
Stop by and see them and buy some stuff, those who know, will recognize the designs.

Wow, their stuff is rich! You think Ben and Jerry's is good, Haagen who? All, their stuff is diet ice cream for weanies. Bubbies stuff is probably twice as heavy (ok, maybe I'm exaggerating again). All kidding aside, their ice cream is so good, if you are in the University area drop in and grab some ice cream, you'll love it! As a bonus, the names he gives them will crack you up.

This is not a difficult thing to come up with folks, chocolate dipped short bread cookies. But did we come up with the idea of individually wrapping them and dipping them diagonally in chocoloate? No! That's why they are rich and we are poor.
From the moment you step off the airplane in Hilo you will notice a million tourists (ok, maybe not a million, but you get the idea) with the "take out" Big Island Candies boxes, filled with chocolate chip cookies and the tiny mouth watering guava ones that I can eat about 50 in one sitting (well maybe I'm exagerrating a bit, 20).
Check them out before you leave Hilo, your friends will love you for it.
Visit them here if you can't fly to Hilo, HI:
