Get on the sushi boat 3/21/2006

Located in the Windward City Shopping Center, the interior of Genki Sushi sports a giant conveyor belt surrounded by ample-sized booths. Fresh sushi is prepared in the middle by a sushi chef and rides the conveyor belt until it piques someone's interest and is plucked from the lineup. Each booth has a colorful sheet that shows the various types of sushi, as well as the pricing classification, which is based on the color of the plate that the sushi is served on. Knowing the various types of sushi almost turns the meal into a game, where you'll anxiously await new dishes, looking for an elusive catch and, once spotted, hoping that the tables in front of you ignore it. At the end of the meal, a friendly staff member totals your empty dishes and calculates your bill. You should try to sit close to the area where new sushi is added to the belt; this improves your chances of getting first dibs at the new dishes. Also, it reduces the chance that an errant sneeze or a kid's sticky fingers blemished otherwise healthy-looking sushi. more
