A museum with fantastic views 8/28/2005

The Getty museum is one of those places where I will take all my visiting friends new to Los Angeles. On a clear day, you have panoramic views from downtown LA to the beach. While I never really seems to spend much time actually looking at the art, I truly enjoy the architecture and the gardens. The museum is very open to kids running around and "learning" in the hallways about art. They have family programs and a special kid's exploration room. They also have periodic music and dance performances in an amazing hall where the balcony seats could hear a pin drop on the stage clearly. They have an amazing restaurant onsite which shares the same views and the food is excellent, however you'll probably pay about $50 per person with food and drinks. Entrance to the museum is free, however parking is $7. Parking is located at the bottom of the hill and visitors ride a tram uphill to the museum. more
