There are a few Rochester Athletic Clubs in and around Rochester. The one I attend is for women only, though there are also coed facilities.
The gym has a large selection of machines and free weights. There is a decent amount of cardio machines, though more ellipticals would be useful, especially being that one or two are usually broken.
My gym has a good schedule of classes. However, I do not find the instructors as a whole to be too professional. For example, my yoga teacher was more concerned with watching herself in the mirror than to go around and adjust attendees' form.
Finally, the towels provided to the members to wipe down the machines are soaking wet and not replaced often, reducing the cleanliness.

Great instruction in music and dance, but you will pay a lot for it. Classes are offered for all ages, from 18 months to adults. Private music lessons are offered, as are ensembles. There are also early start lessons for children and foundations in music classes. Classes in theory and history are offered along with workshops.
In terms of dance, classes are offered for all ages--modern, tap, ballet and jazz.
Taking classes here does not come cheap, but you are getting high quality instruction from experts in the fields they are teaching.

This pizza is hands down the best I have had in Rochester. The ingredients are absolutely top quality, evident in every bite. The crust is crisp, yet chewy. The tomato sauce is flavorful and not too salty, like most pizza sauces. The cheese melts wonderfully and there is no grease floating on top of the pizza. The toppings are also fresh. Most pizzerias use canned mushrooms, for example. Pontillo's only uses fresh mushrooms.
I have also ordered the wings, which are tasty, yet small. I would stick with the pizza.
There are a few locations in Rochester and coupons are in the paper all the time.

The Rhino's are Rochester's local soccer team. They have been playing for 10 seasons and have a team made up of players from all over the US and many other countries, such as Costa Rica, Brazil, Argentina, Trinidad, Uganda, South Africa and Bulgaria.
The team works well together, passing frequently. The defense is very strong and the goalie makes spectacular saves. The team is lacking a cohesive and explosive offense and they tend to hold the ball too long when on offense.
Currently they are playing at Frontier Field, why their new field is being constructed. There is a good turnout at games--nearly 10,000 people on the weekends.

It is hard to find a great theatre that showcases independent films. The Little is more than just a movie theatre, though; there is art, exhibited by local artists, music and an amazing cafe that serves coffees, sandwiches, soups, salads, etc. You don't need to see a movie to eat in the cafe, which seats about 70 people. It is also open late during the week and even later on the weekend. There is also wine and beer served.
The films are well selected and demonstrate the finest in independent film-making.

This museum has a good, solid collection for a museum in a smaller city.
It is a beautiful building that hosts openings with a variety of rooms, some modern, some classic. There are a wide array of painting and sculpture styles exhibited, done by authors from all over the world.
There are also some wonderful temporary exhibits at this museum, including edgier ones you'd expect from a place like New York City. I went to an opening for a paper art sculpture, where the artists provided instructions on the paper to be done to their specifications; the museum provided the tools to cut the paper and form it into the sculptures, allowing us as community members to become the artists' hands.

This restaurant is packed at night, especially on the weekends, when you need to arrive at 5:30 at the latest to get a table.
The sushi is high quality, made with excellent fish that is fresh and tasty.
The true highlight is the hibachi experience. Normally, these food experiences are all show and very poor quality food. Plum Garden is not the usual hibachi experience. The shrimp and steak were delicious and there is no skimping on poor cuts of meat at this restaurant. Enough food for dinner the next night is left over. You get a salad, soup, shrimp appetizer, fried rice and main dish (chicken, steak) with the hibachi meal.
The cons are that at the hibachi, you are sitting with strangers and if they have kids, that can be really annoying if, like me, you are not into kids.

It is a small family-run restaurant and once you are inside, you feel as though you are in a real taverna. The homemade humuus is delicious and the gyros are great for lunch or a light dinner. There are very unique pizzas on offer, as well as traditional Greek fare, using a variety of Greek cheeses seldom found elsewhere.

Moving to Rochester from NYC, I was not expecting to find good ethnic food here. Imagine my surprise when I discovered India House! The chicken tikka masala is as good as that I ate at my favorite place in Manhattan! My husband loves the chicken mahani.
The restaurant is very spacious, the staff attentive but not overbearing. Because of the size of the restaurant, it never feels crowded.
The food is made with high quality ingredients and the staff are very willing to accomodate your schedule--normally you can expect to have a leisurely meal, but if you advise them you are in a hurry, they will serve your meal accordingly.
Take out portions are large enough for two to share.
