Located in the heart of the French Quarter, Antoines is easily accessible to hotels in the Quarter. Established in 1840, this restaurant holds a lot of history. With 15 separate dining rooms, Antoines is great for any occassion and will accomodate all of your needs. Reservations are strongly recommended and a dinner jacket is required. The food is out of the ordinary. The back of the menu provides the history of the restaurant, Antoine came to New Orleans from France where he was an apprentice to Chefs at the early age of 8. He brought many sauces to New Orleans and was the original inventor of Oysters Rockefeller. My husband and I visited Antoines for the Father's Day Sunday Jazz Brunch. We had Iced Tea, Water, Escargots a la Bourguignonne (snails) , Crevettes remoulade (Shrimp remoulade), Crabes mous grillés (crab Cakes), veal, peach melba and Cheesecake. We were served hot bread complimentary and our waiter was sure to keep us with fresh hot bread throughout the meal. The service was extraordinary and the food was very good with an unusual twist. The food was different - excellent but with a different twist. Our meal was $91.00 but it was well worth it. The restaurant was clean and the service was exceptional. This is full of history and the walls are lined with photographs and memorabalia from the famous people who have visited, i.e., Helen Keller, Elizabeth Taylor, Walt Disney, etc.
