The Michael C. Carlos Museum is one of the treasures of Emory University. It houses a great collection of ancient art and artifacts, and it's free for Emory students, so if you are one, take advantage of it. Occasionally, they receive pieces in exchange with other museums from around the world, so those are the times when it is most popular, but you can go there anytime and it'll be worth your while. They also have a cafe upstairs which I have never visited, but I heard good things about it.

Once upon a time, my hard drive broke, and I had to go get one in a hurry. The guy at my campus computer repair place recommended this place, so I went and got my hard drive for about $100. Only later did I realize this was not that great of a deal, but hey, if you're in the Emory vicinity, it is conveniently located. I have never had anything serviced there, so I can't say as the quality of their service, but the guy working there seemed knowledgable enough, and he helped find me a new hard drive in no time. The place is kind of small, but if it's just a little thing here or there you need, it'll probably work for you just fine.

Smith & Davis is a small family owned store on Highway 54 between Peachtree City and Fayetteville that carries a decent selection of clothing and shoes. Back in the day, this was the place everyone went to get their clothing and shoes, but nowadays, with the construction of so many shopping centers in the area, people have other options. Still, a few times a year, Smith & Davis has its legendary tent sales where EVERYTHING in the tent is half off. The tent is a pretty good sized tent, and you can find great deals in there, mostly on shoes, but also on clothing and other accessories. Just keep checking the local newspaper to find out when they are because they have big advertisements to promote them.

T & G Allsports is a family owned business located in the heart of Fayetteville. Before the Sports Authority was built up the street, it was the only local place to go for a good selection of sporting equipment. I went there recently, and now it seems to cater to mostly the baseball crowd and a little bit of the soccer crowd, so if you're looking for equipment for either of those two sports, you're probably good. Otherwise, you might find a better selection at Sports Authority.

Omega books is the place to go if you're looking for used books in Peachtree City. They have a pretty large selection of used books in the back although the selection can be hit or miss. They also carry all of the recent titles and works from local authors. You can become a member for I believe $20 a year which entitles you to 10% discounts, so if you spent at least $200 a year on books, it'll be worthwhile to become a member.

Movies Worth Seeing is the best movie rental place I've ever been to. Looking at it from the outside, you wouldn't think it'd be that good, but you step inside, and you realize that it's basically got literally every movie worth seeing. They don't carry every single movie, of course, but their selection is surprisingly good. They carry every recent release along with many classics and movies that are hard to come by at regular rental places. The prices are amazing too. Once you've been here, you'll never look at movie renting the same way again.

Decatur Yellow Bikes is a non-profit organization that takes donated bikes and fixes them up for people to ride. You just pay a $25 deposit, and you can take a bike home with you. If you decide to keep it, it's only $25 out of your pocket, if not, you can get your deposit back. If you ever have any problems, you can go and get it fixed for free. It is all volunteer run, so they need as many volunteers they can get, even if you don't know much about bicycles. The purpose of the organization is to encourage more bicycle riding, which is a great idea, especially in this time of high gas prices.

Eatzi's is the place to go if you want gourmet. They have many prepared foods that you can just take home and heat up in the oven or microwave, and they also have a good selection of imported cheese, wine, sweets, etc. They have a salad bar, a sandwich bar, a hot pressed sandwich bar, and a pasta bar. All of these "bars" they actually make it for you, but it's very popular during lunch/dinner. It's not cheap, but it's not too pricey, and the quality is pretty good. I would recommend it highly, especially if lunch is on someone else ;-)

Harry's is one of the best grocery stores I've ever been to. It's definitely catering to the upscale shopper, those with the gourmet tastes, but their fresh produce, meat, seafood, and bakery products definitely are impressive. The only downside would be that they're not the cheapest, but hey, you get what you pay for, and in this case, that's a good thing.

Dekalb Farmers Market has some of the best selection of produce and foods in Atlanta. It carries fine products from around the world. They carry fresh, and many times organic produce. All of their baked goods use organic ingredients, and you can find a table with day old goods on them for 20-50% off. They also have a good beer and wine selection. Their deli meats are aobut $1/lb. cheaper than in a regular grocery store. They also have a great cafe, where you pay per pound, so you can get just a little bit of everything and try it, which is what I like to do. The only downside I think is that they don't accept credit cards.
