I love the EMP. It is a great place to check out on a regular basis because their exhibits change regularly. I have probably gone 2-3 times a year for past couple of years and I have brought many visitors to Seattle there because I believe it is a unique place that Seattle should be proud of. Some of their exhibits (regular and changing) include their Jimi Hendrix room, a history of the Beatles, fashion through the 70's Disco era, and Bob Dylans' American Journey. Probably the most fun part of the museum is the hands on instrument rooms. The EMP probably has about 10 rooms that you can go into and play with various instruments (synthesizers, acoustic and electric guitars, drums, etc.). You and few of your friends can enter the rooms and for 10 minutes you can just jam. The rooms are all sound proof so no one outside can hear you. If you are feeling pretty musical, you can get a cd made of what you play in the room. Pretty cool! Overall, the EMP is a fantastic way to spend a rainy Seattle day. Their restaurant is yummy, and the only con of the whole place is that it is pretty expensive (maybe $20 or something) but it is definitely worth it if you spend some time there.

Dustry Strings is an amazing find. The store, located on Fremont and 34th, is filled to the brim with stringed instruments ranging from acoustic guitars to dulcimers and harps and everything in between. You can get all sorts of accessories here as well, including guitar strings, picks, metronomes, tuners, sheet music and cds, and books. They also have several workshops a month with various artists/teachers so there is something for everyone from unexperienced novice to professional. As someone else m entioned in a different review, feel free to stop by and play a few beautiful new guitars! (no zippers!)

KEXP is one of the best finds I've made in Seattle. It is amazing that we have an independent radio station that plays such eclectic and unique music. The DJs and radio shows vary pretty widely, but that is part of what makes it so great. The Morning Show with John Richards is the only way I can get through my commute across 520 every day. It is so refreshing to be able to listen to music that I want to hear without annoying talk or commercials. I have learned a lot about music from listening and, particularly, a lot about Seattle's music scene and musicians. KEXPs online services are incredible too. They are the first to offer podcasts of live performances and radio shows on KEXP also. What a great way to take KEXP with you! I highly recommend and support KEXP and if I leave Seattle I will definitely have to access KEXP online. KEXP is the best stuff on the radio. We are so lucky!

Greenock is a good little golf course with 9 holes that is affordable for the public as well. It can get crowded, but it is very conveniently located. There are tennis courts as well. In the winter, it can be a fun place to go sliding. The club house is pretty cute. It is small, but has a nice bar that overlooks the course.

If you have ever driven on I-90 from Boston to Seattle, then you have see the signs for Wall Drug. They start a few hundred miles before you even get close to the place. Billboard advertising must be pretty cheap out there or something. It is a little ridiculous. Anyway, I've never seen anything like this place. It isn't anything really. It is just a huge tourist stop for no reason at all. There is nothing there except these stores selling bumper stickers that say Wall Drug. Pretty weird.

Swanson's has an extensive seletion of plants, pots, fertilizers, soils, and other gardening accessories. Since I live in an apartment, I obviously do not have a lot of experience with their landscaping facilities, but I have purchased lots of flowering plants for indoors and out here. They have mostly been annuals, but I have also been able to find some really nice pots and accessories that I have combined with the plants to use as gifts. Swansons also has something called Swanson dollars (or something like that) which you get based on how much you spend and they can be redeemed during different periods throughout the year. The staff is friendly and the layout of the nursery is well done making it always a fun place to visit.

This stadium obviously doesn't have the history or charm of some of the other baseball venues in our country, like Fenway Park, but they did a good job when they built it to make it really comfortable and easy to navigate. The bathrooms are all over the place and very clean. The food and beer are also very easy to access. Tickets are pretty cheap compared to other stadiums (about $7 for bleacher seats!) and you can see the field really well from just about anywhere. The retractable roof is also fun to watch open and close. If it is a nice clear day, you can get amazing views of the mountains and water from the upper decks. Overall, going to games at Safeco is a very comfortable, fun, and thoroughly enjoyable experience.
