Some people think a Zilly's sub has too much bread and can't be any good because it's on the Ave, but I disagree. I love the bread. It's never too hard and it has cool little seeds or something on it. Anyone who knows me knows I don't have a complicated pallet. I like basic foods & I despise frills. At Zilly's, I am set free of the frills. You can get a 12-inch sub with ham, turkey and cheese, along with a big chocolate chip cookie for $6.50. It's filling and exactly what I need for a simple lunch. Most everyone else in line orders subs with all kinds of strange sauces that are spicy and usually put on noodle dishes, but since I never order them and am horrified of accidentally biting into one, I have no idea what they are called and if they are good. But I do know that every time I go to Zilly's I see a lot of the same people as I did all the days before, so something keeps people coming back. Oh, and the women that own and run the place are some of the warmest and friendliest in Seattle. more
