Stopped in for lunch out of the blue the other day.
My wife and I split at $12 pizza and each had a $4
small salad. The food was fast. The food was great,
excellent pizza. The servings were decent. The salads
were easily worth more than $4 and the pizza was decent for
two people if you had a salad to go with it.

You know what? My wife and I are regular seafood diners and love oysters. We've gone around to oyster bars and seafood restaurants all over the region, and for the best value, this is the place to go. We gone to places like Shucker's and such, and found that while some places have a slightly better selection (not many places), almost none can compare with the prices for fresh oysters as this large chain. Some of the main courses are not always the best, but it is consistent and I know that I can rely on a good meal. The two times anything was wrong, they've fixed it, PLUS comp'ed us that portion of the meal. Great value.

I never miss the Monterey Bay Aquarium. It is simply awesome and unlike any aquarium you'd ever see...I mean, it's got to be the best in the world, or at least in the top 3. They have a deep ocean tank that's got huge sunfish and sharks in it...they even kept a Great White (juvenile) in it for a bit (released now). It's quite a drive down to Monterey from 'Frisco (about 50 or 60 miles), but I always, always go. I usually grab a bite to eat near the aquarium where you can watch Sea Lions bask from your dinner table (but be prepared for lackluster tourist-trap food), then hit the aquarium. If I leave early enough, I sometimes hit the Santa Cruz boardwalk on my way back to San Francisco, mostly for the nostalgia of my parents taking me as a kid (or because the "Lost Boys" from the 80's film hung out there..in the movie anyway), but it can get kind of scary there lately (population wise).
The aquarium is great at feeding time (usually around 1 pm if memory serves). The kelp forest is awesome with two-three story tall tanks (also the sea otters). The Monterey area is beautiful to begin with anyway, so it's nice to visit anyway, especially if you like Steinbeck.

If you like Indian Food and live in Seattle, you must try Tandoor. I have converted several fans of Cedar's (one block away) because the food is as good or better and the service is friendly (as opposed to Cedar's!). I also have never had a wait to be seated. The place doesn't look like much, but it's not dirty either. The food is all outstanding and the people that run it fall over themselves with friendliness. Try it and let me know what you think.
P.S.: When deciding on a spiciness level, they go 1-5, but will do a 6 or 7 for hardcore pepper eaters...be careful, 6 is really, really hot, and 7 is uneatable!

Hired Gas Piping Company due to good reviews on a contractor review site. They showed up as scheduled and appeared very neat and professional. They walked through and seemed very knowledgeable. We discussed lots of future work and, I liked that I was asked if I was flipping the house or living in it, as it made me think he wanted to know if I wanted cheap or good.
I had a time crunch of the following week and he said it was no problem; he would have someone out Monday to get it done in a day. He quoted me $1600.
Monday came and he was a no show. I called at 4pm and he "was just about to call". He rescheduled for Wednesday. Wednesday was a no show. I didn't bother calling and immediately hired another plumber.
Thursday, he shows up at 11:00am and I told him, "Sorry, two no-shows so I hired someone else." He then has the nerve to berate me for not calling him Wednesday to tell him not to come.
I can't attest to the quality of their work as they did none for me.
By the way, the job was quoted at $1200 by the next plumber, most of the work (the part I needed done immediately) was done for $640, with about $200 of work left to do after my cabinets and counters are in!

Stellar Plumbing was referred by another plumber to do a rush job on my kitchen remodel (had to be done in one day or my cabinets wouldn't go in!).
Jeff came 5 minutes early and went straight to work. He did a professional job and finished in about 5 hours, instead of dragging out the work. Everything was all copper and looked great. He also only charged me less than half the qoutes I had from two previous plumbers!

The work was done right and was half the price of two other plumbers quotes. He arrived exactly on time, too! So rare these days!

I just bought a couple of appliances at Albert Lee. The selection is great and I found that it was very affordable despite the prices being marked higher than the Lowe's or Home Depot prices.
Albert Lee's prices are clearly marked with how much is included (for example, the range prices include delivery, installation, and hauling away old range, which, after the $70 price increase over Lowe's for the same item, was actually cheaper because Lowe's charges more for all of those things). They also carry more In-Stock than the big box stores for delivery that same week instead of the 2-3 weeks that Lowe's needs for many items. I didn't see any prices that didn't include delivery, so make sure to factor that part of the price into your selection, because most of the stores charge at least $65 for delivery or $140 for delivery and installation.
Another big plus is that it's a local, family-owned store. They also just opened an Alderwood Mall location that has easy parking if downtown is a pain.

Having been disappointed with many BBQ locations, I was pleasantly surprised by Jones BBQ. I ate at the Crossroads (Bellevue) location and the ribs were moist and tasty. Their spicy BBQ sauce was delicious and the Sweet Potato Pie was really excellent, which is very hard for sweet potato pie! I ordered a combo and it cost about $20, but it was easily enough food for two people. The beans were delicious. Can't wait to try again to check out the collard greens.
