This place is your best bet for getting a decent hair cut, but its not anything special. They say walk ins welcome, but if you do in fact just walk in theyll be visibly pissed off. Carrie and the guy (Bob?) are nice, but one of the other women is really a you know what. Asking her to make an appointment for anyone but her (as if you asked her to pick up the phone) is not treat because she makes it sound like shes doing you a favor (and I actually caught her lying about the others' availability to get you to make an appointment for her. That said, if you get the two I mentioned, youll be in pleasant hands, just be wary.

College Supplies is alright if youre looking for some quick supplies, like a notepad or a pen, but if you're looking for selection, you better go to staples.com because this place is pretty bare bones in that sense. Pretty much only the back wall has any supplies of use. The rest of the store is pretty much a card store, with cheap (quality not price) toys and greeting and post-cards.

VideoStop is an Ok place to rent movies. Its no blockbuster, obviously, but even as an independent store, it could have a bigger selection. It has a very poor DVD library to speak of. It has most of the new releases, but it makes no effort to replace its older stock with DVD versions. Most kids on campus dont even have VCR so it makes it impossible for them to rent there. Its saying a lot when the school library has a better DVD collection than the Video store.

The pizza at Ramunto's is pretty good in quality. If I close my eyes, it can almost pass for NY quality (maybe Queens, but still, hehe). The biggest problem with this place (and Hanover in general, but Ramuntos especially) is that it costs so darn much. I paid more for a slice than I do in NYC and that's saying (and paying) a lot. I know that EBAs is closer to DiGiornos than NY style pizza, but we shouldn't have to pay this much do to lack of options. If I wasnt a Republican, I'd say capitalism sucks.

This is the semi-official Dartmouth College campus bookstore. Though the school doesn't technically own it, it has an arrangement with the store whereby all the departments give the store their reading lists. However it gets done, the bookstore gets all of the books that you need for your classes and at a somewhat discounted price (they say). Lines are big and since the store is so darn small, if youre claustrophobic, make sure to go in the early morning before the crowds storm it. Doesn't have general books, only texts. For general books in the area, visit the Dartmouth Bookstore.

The bookstore itself is pretty good. It is a fully stocked Barnes and Noble style bookstore. In fact, Barnes and Noble may have bought it out last year. However, as far as its alternate function as a campus bookstore, it does not do so well. It doesnt get the lists from the different departments around Dartmouth, so it doesnt have many of the books that students need for their classes and the ones it does get are overpriced. For general books, this place is good, but for textbooks, stick to Wheelock Books.

Buffa's is such an awesome place to eat. It's a New York institution. You walk into the place and you see the walls literally covered with pictures of famous actors' photos, all autographed. It has a real New York atmosphere to it. If you order breakfast, you'll hear John, the owner calling you Bub, hear him making fun of his waitresses and old guys talking about baseball. And of course the food is great.

It's a no frills, quintessential New York pizza parlor: an old Italian guy tossing dough behind the counter, with a rickety cash register and really great pizza. It's nothing special, but you'll feel right at home; not mouch of the hipster crowd comes here and if any self-righteous guy does show up, Frankie'll put them in their place.

This place has the best pizza in New York city. I'm not even opining there, because it has been rated the best for as long as I can remember. You can't live in New York without trying pizza form Lombardis. The only downsides to this place are that it is ridiculously expensive and that it doesn't sell pizza by the slice. Even with that though, its worth the high price and if you buy a pie, its 8 times the pleasure.
