Taste is a beautiful looking restaurant...but it doesn't really fit the Baltimore vibe. It's hard to explain, but restaurants in Baltimore are more down to earth...Taste is an attractive, modernly designed restaurant that looks like it should be in DC rather than B-more. The food is very good, but the prices definitely reflect the more upscale feel the restaurant is going for.

I have to admit, when my friend and I visited San Diego, we walked past this restaurant several times and made fun of the name. Finally we decided that since we spent so much time commentating on it, we should just eat there. Wow, we were impressed. First off, the view of the San Diego waterfront at night was gorgeous. And the food was truly excellent. They have these combination platters where you get three kinds of seafood, two sides, bread and salad for around 20 bucks, and it was fabulous. And trust me, I'm from Baltimore...I know my seafood!

Snickerz is a comedy club in Fort Wayne. Of course, the quality of the club is just about entirely reliant on what kind of talent they have booked on any given night. Most of the time, I enjoy their comedians. Surprisingly, it is the "no-name" comedians that are the best...whenever they bring in a "name" act--this means you, Dustin Diamond aka Screech Powers--the ticket prices go up but the acts often suck.

Basically, all Piere's is is extremely loud music (that is usually bad), standard drinks, and not much else. Plus, the clientele is usually sketchy beyond all belief.

Rum Runners is a dueling piano bar that is attached to the Fort Wayne Marriott. We had my sister's bachelorette party there, and it was a lot of fun. The piano players are open to requests, and do special shout outs to people who are celebrating birthdays or bachelor/bachelorette parties. The drinks are very cheap as well. The acts can be a bit raunchy, so don't take your grandma!

I stayed at the Fort Wayne Marriott for the first time in a very long time a couple of weekends ago. WOW--what a change. It was only $89 a night for a room with two large beds, but seemed like a higher priced hotel. The bedding was amazing...thick and plush, with a ton of fluffy pillows. The hotel also has a great pool and hot tub. The changes it has undergone are well worth it.

The museum has a lot of interesting artifacts, relating not only to the JFK assassination, but also the assassinations of MLK, RFK, and Lincoln. There's also an interesting documentary to watch. At ten dollars, however, this museum...which is basically one room, is fairly pricey. The man who runs the museum is really interesting to talk to, and has a lot of interesting theories.

I visited Dallas for the first time last weekend, and my friend took me to Babe's. *swoon* It definitely doesn't have a huge menu, but you get a ridiculous amount of delicious food....for an insanely low price. We picked the fried chicken as our meat dish, which was excellent--crispy, juicy, and most importantly, not greasy. And then we received unlimited sides...wonderful biscuits, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, and green beans. I only wish I lived by one!

David and Dad's is a great little place that has tasty breakfasts and good coffee. But the best are their lunches. It has a great variety of sandwiches and burgers. The shrimp salad sandwich is great, as is the chicken souvlaki. David and Dad's is only open til three and is only open during the week to cater to businesspeople.

I know that in theory I am supposed to hate Starbucks because it represents globalization and evil companies...but their coffee is so good. I've never had anything at Starbucks that wasn't great. My personal favorite is the Caramel Macciato. The best part is that you can customize your drinks, such as with skim milk. The coffee is wonderful.
