New York Pizza? Not Quite...

As a native New Yorker, I was hopeful when I first tried Piecora's Pizza. The Capitol Hill establishment has a sign featuring the Statue of Liberty and proclaiming NY-style pizza. Sadly, it just doesn't make the cut. Although the crust, toppings, and cheese are right on, the sauce is too bland. They need to adjust the seasoning of their sauce; until then it just doesn't meet NY standards. In the meantime, for NY-style pizza try Hot Mama's on Pine street. In the 10+ years that I've lived in Seattle, Hot Mama's is the closest thing I've found the pizza I once enjoyed as a New Yorker.
