I went to Couch's in 1996 when I needed a new refrigerator and a new dishwasher. I liked the assortment of brand names. The owner, Mr. Couch, doesn't have to limit his brands, so you can a lot more than you would at Sears. I love my dishwasher - it's a Braun - and it is so quiet. The nicest thing that Couch's did for me was when he sold me an inexpensive and simple to operate VCR. I was anxious about hooking up the TV and the Nintendo. He had a technician make a house call and she hooked it all up for me for $20.

I recently went to Watson's and I was so impressed with the facility. They have all the plants and landscaping materials of the other nurseries, but Watson's also has interior furniture and gifts for adults and children. They have some lawn ornamentation, too, that is actually NOT tacky. I thought to myself that I must bring my dad here the next time he visits. It's like an amusement park for plants - or something like that. They also have a little cafe inside that serves nice salads and sandwiches.

When I first entered Sonic Boom I was very impressed. They had a huge selection and variety of cd's that would satisfy any music fanatic. Not only that it's for a reasonable price. Most cd's are around the price of 11 dollars which is a bargain compared to almost all chain stores in the U.S. I would reccomend this store to anyone who was in need of the cd that they wanted.

The Pick Quick is a favorite burger/fries/shake joint along Pacific Hwy in Fife. Anytime you go by it is crowded with people either waiting in line to order, or waiting nearby to hear their number. There is no indoor seating, so this is only a seasonal place. They have a lovely, lovely picnic area set up, though, with clean picnic tables and green grass and flowers. I love the burgers because they are like the ones that used to be served in the old-fashioned diners. They taste very similar to Burgerville burgers.

They have a large selection of videos and it's inexpensive. You can find "hard to find" videos as well as foreign movies. They have an exceptional collection of anime videos. To join Stadium Video, I had to show my driver's license and I had to have either a pay stub or a bill that showed my name and address on it. Fortunately, I happened to have it with me. Otherwise I would have had to go home and get it, and I probably wouldn't have come back. The store is located underneath another store and isn't easy to see, but they have parking.

The Grand Cinema was started by people who wanted to view the art house films that you can see every week in Seattle. The staff are all volunteers and patrons are encouraged to join the group. There are three movie screens and this theater seems to show the movies a few weeks after Seattle does, but at least you can see them without driving all the way to Seattle. Parking is not a problem and there is a coffee house nearby if you have the urge. The movie theater is on the old side and the seats are old too - not uncomfortable, but not comfy either. Huge movie posters adorn all the walls.

Beth Meyer is the owner of the Happy Tails Resort & Spa, located close to Flaming Geyser State Park. She was recommended to me by my veterinarian because my dog had suffered some kind of nerve damage from an injury. Beth has a swimming pool just for dogs. Some of her clients, like my dog, use the pool to exercise their muscles and rebuild the nerve pathways. Other dogs use the pool for exercise. It's very expensive $30 for 30 minutes or two 15 minute sessions. But, if your dog needs the therapy and you can afford a couple of visits, it's worth it.

Hello all you math geeks, math teachers, puzzle lovers, dice lovers, t-shirt collectors, game players! This is the ultimate math store in existence. It is a relatively small store on busy Roosevelt, and it only has about 4 parking spaces, but the store is bursting with educational products. You need to allow at least an hour to get a quick overview, and it's better if you can spend 2 hours there. There are curriculum books and general math reading, plus lots of puzzle books. They have great math posters and manipulatives. Tons of games and construction kits. Origami paper, math neck ties, math t-shirts, and DICE CENTRAL. You can order from them using a purchase order from your school, too [if your school has the money]. They close every day at 6:00 p.m., but are more than happy to stay open a little later is you are still shopping. When you finish, go across the street and have homemade pot stickers at Snappy Dragon.

Paul and Tina Jackson run a dog boarding business that used to be joined with the Happy Tails Resort and Spa near Flaming Geyser Park. Now Paul has his facility in a new location in Enumclaw, but he still shares the phone. Paul has a homey attitude toward taking care of the dogs. He only accepts "good dogs", though. He's looking for dogs that aren't going to bark all the time and upset the other dogs. He's looking for dogs that can socialize with other dogs. I left my dog with him for two weeks last Christmas. Most kennels exhaust the dogs because they get overstimulated. My dog was the same as when I left her - calm and happy. It costs $25/day which is A LOT, but Paul doesn't charge extra because my dogs has two pills to take. It only costs me about $8 more a day to use his facility and it is so worth it because my dog is clean, happy, calm, and not sleep deprived! They fill up, so call early and reserve a spot. He may want to meet your dog first.

If you've ever gone to the Puyallup Fair via Meridian, you went right past Kanpai. It looks bad from the outside: a white diner looking thing with a parking lot that can hold 3 cars. There's more parking around to the back, but you can't tell that when you first drive by. Also, they have funny hours. They are open for lunch, then closed, then open again for dinner. Closed on Sundays and Mondays. So there's a very good chance that you drove by and it was closed and you couldn't imagine anything good inside. But, I declare that this is the best Japanese food around - and I've tried some well-known restaurants in Federal Way, Des Moines, Tacoma, and Seattle. I also lived in Japan for over 3 years, so I feel I have some authority. Kanpai is run by an elderly Japanese couple. The food is superb and the menu has a huge variety. Try something different - don't just order teriyaki!! I get all of my friends to try eel [unagi sushi]. They love it. I look forward to going there, but all Japanese food is expensive, so I don't go as often as I'd like.
