There aren't many places in Seattle where you can be in heaven and hell at the same time, at least not literally. el Diablo is a great coffee shop to surf the 'net (using the free wi fi) or enjoying delicious Cuban coffees or a selection of fantastic teas. If the weather cooperates, you can even sit outside. It's also connected to a fantastic local book store, so you can buy a book and relax in the coffee shop while sipping a latte (or leche).

I was waiting with baited breath for Matador to open, since I always love finding new neighborhood destinations. This place doesn't disappoint. The space is intimate (translated: small) with a cozy fire pit in the middle. Seating is limited, so if you have to get there early to snag a table, and during the summer, try and get the outside seating for all of the people watching on Market Street. The meals are reasonable and quite tasty ( I have enjoyed the enchiladas a number of times), but the real draw for me is the happy hour. The appetizers are delicious and cheap (at least by Seattle prices). My special favorite is the Baja Shrimp Taco. It is a must order every time.
