These days it seems so many people book their trips on the Internet, and that travel agencies were a thing of the past. Was I pleasantly surprised with Magnolia Travel. Not only is the staff incredibly friendly, they make excellent suggestions and know their stuff. Their recommendations are dead on, and you would not get that kind of help from any of the travel sites. Plus, with the personalized service, they really get to know their customers and ensure that the holiday is one to remember.

With its larger than life screen and sound to blow your mind, Cinerama has been wowing movie goers for years. fortunately for all of us, it got a remodel/upgrade just in time for the new millennium. I have found that if you go on a weeknight, the crowd is considerably less, and you can usually find free on street parking, which will save you a bit of money.

This is not your typical Thai restaurant. From the funky drinks in the bar to the not so kitschy design, Thaiku delivers ambiance and tasty food. There is not one specific item to try, everything I have ever tried on the menu has been fantastic. If you want a quiet night, avoid the weekends there, it can get pretty crowded.

I was thrilled to see the recent addition of men's clothes to the fashion palette of Bliss. Now Fremont has a shop that caters to the tragically hip metrosexual. Since carrying men's clothes is a new experience, it remains to be seen how they continue to stock it. The best bet is to pop by and decide for yourself.

As a child, trips to the Bay were pure magic. My grandparents lived down the street and would always take me to see Disney movies there. I was thrilled to hear that the cinema was being redone to celebrate the history of the theater yet represent the best of the new millennium. There's just something special about being able to go to a local movie theater and make an evening of it. I have never been a fan of the huge multi-plexes, and it's nice to know I still have an option for something special.

Whether you need new Le Creuset pans or a set of martini glasses, this local kitchen shop is the place to go. At first glance, you would think it is another overpriced shop in Magnolia, but the prices are quite fair for the quality of goods. As an added bonus, Dish It Up is becoming known for offering some of the best cooking classes in town. I can't wait for the holiday cocktail class, so I am signing up early!

There's a reason the phrase "kid in a candy shop" was coined. This shop is truly magical. From the moment you walk it, it just feels right. The selection is vast, but not overwhelming. It ranges from inexpensive candies that a young child could buy with coin in his or her pockets to gourmet chocolates for the most discerning palate. My favorite was a chocolate infused with Earl Grey tea. The decorations change regularly, so there is always something new and exciting to view while selecting the perfect sweet treat.

I first discovered this florist when a co-worker received one of their arrangements in the office. It was absolutely gorgeous, and it had real limes in it (a fact that she pointed out repeatedly). Ever since then, I have been constantly amazed at the quality of work produced. The arrangements are distinct but not too over the top.

What a fun shop! From the bright colors to the friendly staff, this is the place to go if you are a cat or dog lover. There are gifts for the animals themselves (including some very smart outfits)as well as books and art work celebrating man's best friend. They have a great selection of natural dog treats (that my yellow lab just loved). Also, they have a full service grooming salon, but it is booked out way in advance.
