It is out of the way, but if you are ever on your way to Mount Baker for a hike or skiing, it is officially a sin not to stop for the Phish Tacos at Graham's Restaurant. Graham's is kind of a hole in the wall, but they have a beautiful wooden carved bar, and good beer on tap. Stop in for lunch and take a hike on one of Baker's wonderful trails, ar finish up a day with a large cup of ale.

My friends and I frequent Murphy's on many a Monday night, and it is always a good time. They have a good special on Irish Whiskey and usually have good prices on their local microbrew pitchers. The atmosphere is great for a large or small group, and there is usually plenty of seating. Stop in and have a Guiness or Car Bomb if you are in Ballard sometime.

Both locations offer all the ammenities of a good bookstore, including a good selection of both new and used books, along with a good cafe. You'll find almost any book you are looking for, and if they don't have it they will order it for you. Third Place has many different author events, so there is a good chance to meet some of the authors that you read regularly. The staff is very helpful, and knowledgeable, which makes any venture to Third Place worthwhile.

Recently my wife and I decided to purchase a home in Seattle and because we were new to buying real estate, decided to use an agent. Hiep at Portico Properties was an excellent agent. He never forced us to look at properties that were out of our price range or that didn't meet our preferences. When we finally settled on a house he was very helpful in making the offer and setting expectations. I will use Portico next time I buy a house.

I recently had to turn in my lease and was most satisfied to lease a new car at University VW. I used their internet department and got a great price on a new Jetta. The sales staff was helpful and wasn't pushy. everything is done out in the open, so you are never forced to go into a closed office and wait. I would recommend purchasing or leasing from University VW for your next new car.

It is a pretty bold claim to make that someplace has the best coffee in Seattle, but this place will live up to those words. I live across town and will drive out of my way to get a cup of joe here. I prefer to drink drip coffee, but most places in Seattle specialize in espresso drinks...needless to say the quality of their drip suffers. This place makes great drip and espresso drinks and offers a good variety of pastries and sandwiches, to round out a good breakfast or light lunch. There is also some nice art, from local artists, which rotates weekly.

Hattie's Hat is well known for offering a great night time atmosphere with a good bar and live music, but perhaps their best attribute is least known. Hattie's Hat offers brunch on the weekends. This brunch offers excellent traditional choices, such as bacon and eggs, pancakes, and Egg's Benedict. They also offer an excellent selection of breakfast cocktails, such as mimosa's and bloody mary's. Hattie's Hat has nearly saved my life before after a long night out with friends. Give it a try if you are in Ballard sometime.

Central Market is a fine locally owned place to buy groceries, wine and beer. They offer a large variety of both organic and non-organic foods at very reasonable prices. Their wine selection is as fine as most specialty wine shops, as is their beer selection. The market offers fresh meats, seafood and an above average produce section. A very good and cheaper alternative to Whole Foods or other national stores.

Kenmore Camera offers a knowledgeable staff, as well as tons of new and used equipment at great prices. They also buy and trade old equipment, for reasonable compensation. I highly recommend shopping at Kenmore Camera if you have any photography needs.
