This little restaurant, located at the upstairs of a popular brunch spot, is often overlooked by the throngs downstairs. Everyday a new menu is offered, including a meat and vegetarian option which will include sides for a reasonable price. They also have a small shop filled with Peruvian items which adds to the ambiance.

This small independently run theater is a nice change of pace from the multiplexes elsewhere in the city. Conveniently located on a popular street in Squirrel Hill, it shows a mix of independent of popular film. A great place to get an almost private viewing on some weeknights- though don't expect a large selection of foods or other amenities typical at your more prominent chains.

This is a popular place to grab a quick bite for students and others working in the neighborhood. The food is good, with a wide selection of pan Asian dishes, and service is almost guaranteed to be fast and fairly cheap. It is such a common place to chill that I know several people that insisted on purchasing T-shirts before heading out of the city for the last time.

Be sure to check out this restaurant in the heart of Oakland. The food is quite good, but one of the real draws is the beers. They have never ending drink specials and a selection from all over the world. WIth meals such as the "hang-over cure" you can imagine the crowds normally found here. The half price menu after 11 is a popular choice, so be sure to show up around 10:30 if you want a table for a good number of people.

A great assortment of Indian dishes, including good boxed lunches. It is located in a converted Victorian home, the kind you often find turned into graduate/young professional housing. The wait staff was very pleasant and patient, allowing us to linger at the table for almost 3 hours while only one other table remained occupied. A bit pricier than other Indian restaurants nearby, but worth the few extra dollars.

Avoid the crowds by taking in some lesser known, and in my personal opinion, more impressive pieces. WIth a travelling exhibition space on the top floor, I am sure to return at least every few months for my expressionism fix. Be sure to check out the design store across the street as well. Fabulous- if wholly unpractical- pieces wait within. The museum is free on Fridays from 4-8, but it's sure to be crowded. Go later that evening to avoid the touristy crowd.

this is not the place for you. The first floor is a perfectly fine place for group meetings, with pizza and takeout rolling in every few minutes and a guaranteed friend or two to distract you from real work. As far as the collection goes, it is certainly a bit lacking. Head up to Hillman at the University of Pittsburgh for most (esp. humanities) needs. Computers are plentiful with around 3 clusters- but they're equally as prevalent elsewhere.
