Serafina can't be matched by any other restaurant in Seattle. It has a wonderful ambience, good service, great live music on certain nights, a nice wine selection, a well stocked bar, and oh yeah, food that is absolutely delicious! Every meal we've had there is cooked and presented to perfection. Some may consider it on the pricey side, but the food is worth it. The pasta with veal-meatballs is the greatest dish. The pork is good as well. I've met no one that didn't enjoy it! It's a great restaurant for an intimate date, or for a big event (we took our wedding party there the night before our wedding--they did a great job with dealing with us!). Check out their outdoor seating in the summer too!

Yay for Gorditos! Everytime I go there, I'm extremely satisfied with a full belly and plenty of leftovers. The ingredients are always fresh and tasty, and the servings are insanely huge! The selection of meals on their menu is great for anyone with a picky appetite and their complimentary salsa bar can't be missed. It gets pretty loud and bustling sometimes, but it's still a great place to eat if you don't mind the loud music and boisterous crowd. Grab a beer and pull up a burrito, this place can't be beat.

We've been going to Mud Bay granary for many years for all of our cat food and cat litter. Their selection of products that are healthy for your pet are outstanding. Every time we go in, the people that help us are friendly, helpful and very knowledgable about the products. I also think their prices are very reasonable for the quality of products that they sell. This place has never let us down, and we will keep on going back again and again.

Animal talk is a very small organization that takes in stray cats and other small pets. They have a very organized volunteer program for those interested in becoming a foster parent. They also have rabbits, ferrets, rats, and other rodents if you're looking for a smaller pet to adopt. The fees are affordable, and the people that work there are helpful and take their work seriously. They have a good selection of pet foods and products and some fish and frogs. Support this store!

If you prefer a smaller store (size wise that is) Sonic Boom is great independant music store that feels cozy and warm. Although both the capital hill location and the ballard shop host live in stores I prefer the fremont store for it's location and vinyl annex right below. Sonic Boom has a good staff who friendly but never pushy, shop for hours, no one will get short with you. They have many alistening stationas well for you to check out newer releases before you buy, plus having one of the hipper groups of customers means better used selection which you can also listen to before you buy.

I can't say enough good things about Brouwers! If you like beer you have to go in for a pint (or 2, or 3, or 4, well okay as many as you can handle). They have a hugh selection on tap (54 I believe) and even more in bottles plus if you have a friend coming who doesn't like beer (for shame) they've got a great (higher end) bar too. The food at Brouwers is also outstanding, it's affordable but delicious (try the crourc monsieur w/ frite it's only like $8 and it's awsome). Many of the brews they have on tap you're not gonna find in other bars like Dicks Bottleworks IPA (brewed especially for the owners of bottleworks who own brouwers as well) and other hard to find gems. Brouwers is the best bar in Seattle hands down!

Jive Time is a great place for both collectors and casual vinyl buyers alike. Unlike Bop Street, Jive Time has things very well organized and clearly priced as well. I f you're loking for a collectors copy of out of print or limited editions talk with the clerk, if they doon't have it they're probably going to give you advice on where to look. This place is a happy medium. I would recomend it to any one searching out 60's and 70's LPs, but don't go looking for CDs they don't carry any of that shiny crap!

Cellophana Square used to be an okay place to buy music (never really all that good) but know it just down right sucks. CD's are over priced selection is minimal and the staff seem to think they're to cool for school or something. I guess it's one of the few indie record stores on the ave. that actually sell new music, but I'd much rather ride the bus for an hour to get to Easy Street or Sonic Boom than go to Cellophane Square to just leave disapointed. Boo.

Dennis did a great job photographing our wedding (especially the posed photos). He was very friendly and never pushy or controlling. I felt as though he was open to our suggestions but also had ideas of his own. He operates out of his own home which is really nice during the initial stages of talking over plans of the big day and great for going and viewing the photos after they are developed (plus it was fun to meet his cats). Everything with Dennis was painless. If you are getting married PLEASE don't trust a "family friend who is going to do it for free", if they are doing it for free they are much less concerned with your happiness... go to a professional, go to Dennis!

This place is a movie overs dream come true, no doubt about it. They have two levels of movies on both DVD and VHS (and a few Laser Disc too I believe). Tons and tons of movies, including alot of rare and hard to find releases and alot of out of print stuff as well. They also rent out different types of DVD players for, like, code PAL 2 or whatever it is (seems to be alot of foreign films). Very helpful staff with great recommendations and of course that great feeling of not renting from block buster or Hollywood.... ahhh.....
