Forget that the outside of the Salish was in Twin Peaks and don't look for those rooms on the inside because that was a different hotel all together. Instead, focus on the fact that there is no better place to relax and unwind in the Snoqualmie Valley, if anywhere in Washington, than the Salish Lodge.
Like any world-class hotel the staff and facilities are immaculate. Every detail has been arranged. Start your stay in the attic bar before dinner on the patio overlooking Snoqualmie Falls.
If you're lucky (and perhaps rich) you'll have reserved the fourth floor parlor suite. It's a monsterous space with a private deck and vaulted ceilings. The huge soaking tub can be opened up to the rest of the suite and you can have in-room massages in front of the fireplace. Even if it's just for one night it's a must.
If you're into the whole spa thing make arrangements to visit their facilities. They offer all the usual stuff including a hot stone massage that's great and they have a special table for pregnant women that allows late-term ladies to lie face down while still supporting the belly. WOW.

Single Track Cycles, on the main street in downtown North Bend, is open seven days a week and provides service, sales, and rentals of all types of bicyles, but specializes in mountain bikes.
In addition to bikes, they are also willing to help with other types of wheeled vehicles, like a jogging stroller that had blown a tire, at a minimum cost. For only $10 they sold us a new tube and installed it on our jogger in about five minutes.
They also carry infant helmets, which we've had a hard time finding anywhere else. The itsy bitsy helmet was $30, but actually fits our two and a half year old daughter well.

The North Bend Bar & Grill in downtown North Bend is an informal gathering place ideal for after work, hiking, or skiing.
The restaurant is divided in two with the bar closest to the street and the dining room near the back by the old railroad tracks. (They're rarely in use as only a tourist train runs on them now.) Decor is sort of rustic and fitting for North Bend.
The food is your standard pub food, but caters to modern tastes as well with a few vegetarian dishes. Their best meals are the old stand-bys: burgers and sandwiches.
They have a decent selection of beer and wine, but no hard liquor.
Parking can be tight in the lot outside, but the street parking is free.

The Mountain Creek Tree Farm is located in the North Fork of the Snoqualmie River valley between North Bend and Snoqualmie. The feel is definitely mountainous with Mt. Si's moon wall looming just to the east. However, the elevation is pretty low so snow is rare, but come dressed for wet weather as it's often either raining or has just rained.
The narrow drive in can sometimes be a bit dicey when cars are parked along the shoulder, but usually there's sufficient parking in either the main area or the secondary lot. Saws are provided, but to prove your manliness bring your own.
The farm is divided into three areas by the parking area and a small creek that runs at the base of a hill. I've had the best luck finding trees to the east of the parking area where the nobles grow tall. The trees are typically a little larger than at some of the other North Bend farms, but they also have smaller trees if that better fits your space or taste.
Inside the small office are a few knick knacks as well as candy canes and hot drinks.
Pay the extra couple of bucks to have your tree bound and bring a wet cloth to cover the exposed stump. Cut an inch off when you get home and your tree will do much better.

Formerly known as Children's Services of Sno-Valley, Encompass aims to provide services to the upper and lower Snoqualmie Valley.
The agency's former focus on children is still evident in many of its programs: child care coop, family fun nights (with themes like African Drums, Sno-Valley Idol, and the Reptile Man), community festivals, and summer camps for kids. The agency also hosts a number of support groups.
Like most non-profit groups Encompass is run on a tight budget so volunteers are always welcome and volunteering is both fun and rewarding!

Kami Teriyaki just off the 116th Street exit on 405 fills a void that was created when the local teriyaki shop closed down. As amazing as it sounds, there was no local teriyaki to be had on the north end of Rose Hill.
Kami gets by with decent teriyaki and yakisoba. Nothing to write home about, but good enough for an easy meal encased in styrofoam.
Combine it with a Slurpee from the 7-11 in the same strip mall and you have a meal fit for a prince for a price even a pauper could afford.

Dr. John Nowicki really takes the time to listen. His calm, introspective demeanor quickly puts one at ease. As a new mom who was struggling with the hormonal shifts, stress of going back to work and other pregnancy/parenting related stresses. Dr. Nowicki was able to determine my food intolerances through a blood test without the traditional elimination diet. Since I was breast-feeding the elimination diet was not an option for me, Not only did Dr. Nowicki treat me for my immediate issues, but also for my overall long term health and the future health of my new baby. His wife Summer Jo Nowicki is also a naturopath in the same office if you are looking for a female physician.

Cascade office supply is a great local stop for anything paper. Frankie and crew have a little of everything. They are great when you need school supplies or even just a special envelope for mailing pictures to grandparents. They also have a shipping facility in the back with UPS service. The staff is also fabulous helping with the copiers for those of us who couldn't figure it out. Super for unique specialty items but a bit too small for bulk items.

Ok so it is not the biggest or shiniest place in town but it is great for reasonable prices, clean tools and those spa chairs that work your back into submission. They only have 2 chairs for pedicures so it is great for just you and a girlfriend to treat yourself, bring a latte and catch up for an hour or so. The gals were personable and easy to chat with too if you are going solo. I haven't had my nails done but if I did I would probably head here first.

This is a little store front in Crossroads Mall across from Old Navy (it is easy to miss unless you know what you are looking for). They do awesome monogramming and have very cute and creative gifts for family members. We had a 'I'm a big sister' shirt made for our daughter to tell our family we were expecting #2 and got a lot of comments on the shirt--which I think says something since they should have been commenting on the pregnancy! I have also had blankets done for baby gifts, you can bring your own or use one of theirs. They have the really cute puppets if you are looking for something more reasonable and have those stitched with the childs name for about $16.
