This is a great restaurant. I wasn't sure exactly what to get so I let them choose, and I had the Lamb Couscous, which they said they only make one or two of every day and people will call and reserve it a few days in advance. Not to be undone, it came out on separate plates, with the amazing couscous on one plate and the quite impressive lamb shanks simmered with whole potato, carrot, onion, zucchini. It was very good. The flavors were mild, but very complex, and the whole thing was worth the amazing smells. Other folks had the mixed kabob, salmon, and spanakopita, all of which were delectable... the spanakopita was uniquely good compared with other places.
Also, I don't usually like Turkish coffee, but it was excellent here. And the baklava was also good.

This is a top-notch vegetarian place. I am not a vegetarian, but this is one of my favorite Seattle restaurants. I think Carmelita's is fun, but it's pricey and too fancy for everyday meals. I could eat at Cafe Flora almost any day; their fare is simpler and more affordable, and the atmosphere is more relaxed. The brunch is probably the best offering, everything is very tasty. My favorite item on the menu is actually the Cringer (cranberry + ginger) juice drink, which is unbeatable when combined with the rosemary lemonade.

We have visited Phoenecia on Alki for several years on New Year's Eve. It really is a great place. The atmosphere, the food, the wine, all of it is very good. Never fear asking Hussein to just find you something you would like--I know the previous reviewer said something about the wine list being weak, but it turned out there were several bottles of wine that were similar to something on the wine list but weren't actually listed. Anyway, the grilled king salmon is excellent, as is the roast lamb. No question, this is one of my favorite places.

The Spice is the best Thai restaurant in Ames, in terms of quality, presentation, ingredients, etc. The food is excellent in all categories; the menu lists chef specialties, but the Spicy Peanut Salad, the Massaman curry, and the Pad Ka Prow with the omelet are my favorites. The wine list is decent and the Thai tea is also good. The desserts are delectable as well. It's a friendly place with elegant decor and the waitstaff is knowledgeable. The place charges more than Thai Kitchens, but you definitely are getting your money's worth at The Spice.

Thai Kitchen is not my favorite Thai place in town. Their food is edible, but I don't really get excited about it at all. They don't compare with The Spice in terms of quality or presentation. However, it is much cheaper, and that is an important distinction. Basically, if you want okay food at a low price, you can go to Thai Kitchen; otherwise stick to The Spice.
