...sucks? I'm a little biased though, coming from their rival school. Putting old feelings aside though the Harvard Coop is a good place to go, spend some time taking in all the books they have to offer and feeling academic. Its the kind of place you could spend the morning in wandering around and finding a few books you want to read. While there are a number of chairs and tables in the store and in the cafe section, it's not the kind of bookstore I'd want to just sit and read in for an afternoon.

jamnastics is an organization based in Cambridge that has something to offer for the whole family. they offer dance and gymnastics classes for kids as young as two all the way through adults. They have after school/performance programs for children as well as a latin dance troupe for adults. The kids that perform hip hop with jamnastics are sick, and will definitely go places. They use the gym at MIT as their home base for most of their gymnastics classes which gives them access to the equipment there and the trampolines which are a lot of fun.

I visited the market for the first time last week and was really impressed. There were about twenty stands and everything was pretty reasonably priced. There were a good number of people there, but it wasn't too crowded. I'd recommend getting there early so you get the pick of the litter (figuratively speaking of course). There was even a stand to buy Asian herbs, as well as places to buy pies and baked goods. I was surprised at the number of items I saw there that I'd never seen before in a supermarket. There was also an organic meat stand.

While this store has a good selection of everything for young ones, their selection of strollers is impressive. Even better is the staff is well informed about the pluses and minuses of each one and can help you make a good informed decision. They also have a number of toys and educational products for kids of all ages, though the pickings get slimmer for those in middle school and older. This is a store you might want to avoid bringing your kids to because they're sure to find something they can't live without!

I love to go and look around grand opening every time I'm in Coolidge Corner. Although at times it can be hard to convince the people I'm with to go (they get embarrassed, but there's no reason to be embarrassed!). The store has a good selection of videos, toys and other fun things and the staff is very knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful while not being too pushy! They also offer a ton of classes on every topic imaginable, so it's worth signing up for their maling list.

Located in the jewish enclave in Brookline, this store has anything you, or other jewish friends could ever need. While their selection of books is immense, I love the more fun items that can often be found in the store like Hebrew red sox caps and videos for children based on the teachings of the torah. If you're looking for hannukah presents this shop is well worth a trip.

Some of the games/toys in the window look like they've been there forever, but once you walk in you get the sense that the place has brought smiles to many a children's face. They have a lot of small trinkets and toys that are a great little treat for the children in your life!

Huge cineplexes are popping up everywhere, but the Coolidge corner theater is a throwback to older times. Granted you might be well aware of that if you find one of the seats with little cushioning left in it, but your trip will be well worth it. The movies showing there are always top notch, and include many artistic or independent films that don't make it to the main stream theaters. The custom lead in to all movies is worth the trip alone - it's much better than the singing popcorn you'll find at other theaters!

You can't find a better bookstore. Despite the fact that there is a Barnes and Noble (evil empire!) just a block down the street, Booksmith is the place to go and find great new reads. They always seem to have the best books on display on the tables near the entrance, and the staff recommendations are always spectacular. They offer a number of books at a discounted price, and also have a small area near the back for gifts, trinkets and other assorted goodies. If you happen to be in Coolidge Corner stop by, and you won't be disappointed!

This is a great little shop to drop your dry cleaning off in in the morning when you head to the train, and pick it up a day or two later. They also do alterations to bridal gowns, which sometimes is hard to find. I had a pair of pants hemmed there in a pinch, and they did a great job. Their prices seem to be on par with other dry cleaners in the area. The people who work there are very friendly, though they don't all speak the best english.
