There aren't a lot of options as far as bowling goes in Durham, but Mardi Gras is a good one. It's bright, with a family atmosphere. Mardi Gras is a good place to have a kid's birthday party or a night out with the family.
Personally, I often find the crowd that hangs out around bowling alleys to be a little scary--but this place is very clean and oriented toward good family fun. There's no beer served here, so you don't have to worry about the drunken bowling league in the next lane.
They usually have some sort of "midnight bowling".
