The Carolina Theater of Durham is one of my favorite places to see a movie. They usually have independent or obscure films that you don't find in the regular multiplex-type theater. Plus, it's a beautiful historic building, which gives you a little feeling of nostalgia--or at least makes me think of what it must have been like to go to the movies when my parents were kids, as the multiplex is what I grew up one, myself. Anyway, it's a great alternative to the "summer blockbuster" movie houses, with their boring crowd pleasers and expensive tickets.
