Fun Pioneer Experience

Friday, August 19, 2005
This is the Place Heritage Park has two parts. The first is the free This is the Place monument -- a big statue covered obelisk. The other is the Deseret Village -- a recreation (with many original period buildings relocated) of a village around the time of statehood in Utah. There are wagon rides, people in costume, etc. Some of the buildings have guides that explain the history and significance of the building. It is quite a bit of walking in the sun (very little shade), so be prepared for that. Admission to the village is not free, but it is interesting.
