I really wanted to like this place. I had walked by it almost every day for months because it's right near the Evanston Athletic Club. When I finally convinced a friend to go there with me, I was quite disappointed. Everything seemed to be a little off. My pork sandwich was very strange - the pork had been formed into a patty. The menu didn't indicate that would be the case. Even the applesauce offered as a side dish tasted funny. I'm not sure how a restaurant can mess up applesauce but somehow they did. I wouldn't go back.

Cozy has a pretty good deal for lunch. I thought my food was tasty but I felt like the veggies could have been cooked more. The broccolli was practically raw. It's a cute little place though - I love the kitschy decor. Unlike most places in downtown Evanston, it isn't overpriced. It's not worth going out of your way for, but if you happen to be in the area and you're hungry, it's not bad.

Olive Mountain features both indian and nepalese food. My friend and I ordered one indian dish and one nepalese dish when we went there. I can't say that I would have known that the nepalese food wasn't indian food - the flavors were quite similar. Both dishes were really tasty. The service wasn't great though - they forgot to bring our appetizer. I guess it wouldn't have been bad if they had forgotten it since it was a lackluster veggie samosa. Overall, the food was good. I thought it was a little on the pricy side for indian food, but for downtown Evanston, the price wasn't bad.

The portions at Joy Yee's are HUGE and the lunch special is a really good deal. However the tables are really crammed into the restaurant and it can get loud in there. Also I find that I always smell like the food when I leave - I mean, my clothes, my hair, everything. They have lots of fun frozen drinks and bubble tea which is kind of unique in this area. They also offer take out.

Al's Deli is truly a gem. It's not that noticeable if you happen to be on Noyes Street, but once you find it, you'll keep coming back. They have sandwiches on baguette, croissant or other breads. My favorite is the baguette. They use really high quality cheese and meats so they don't need lots of crazy toppings like other sandwich places have. Unless you're really hungry, you'll only need a half sandwich. The soup and 1/2 sandwich combo is a good deal and their soups are delicious. Oh and the chocolate chip cookies are to die for! It can get crowded there especially on weekends sometimes and they close early but it is worth making the effort to get there.
