This place isn't bad. It really isn't. But it's just another one of Evanston's fairly mediocre Thai restaurants. Like some of the others, I think they would benefit in cooking their food more or over a higher temperature or something so the veggies don't seem totally raw. It's pretty cheap and they often have coupons in the Daily Northwestern.

I've eaten here a few times. I think the italian inspired noodles are better than the asian inspired ones. The penne rosa is GREAT! It's kind of creamy, kind of tomatoey, kind of spicy. Some of the other dishes seem to be lacking in flavor. But it's a decent food option in downtown Evanston. It's cheaper than a lot of the other places - just a bit more than fast food but not up to a sit down place. And because it's warm food (not a sandwich) it's sort of comfort food-esque.

I once declared that I would never eat at another vegetarian restaurant after having some horrible meals at them, but Carmelita made me rethink that declaration. They serve lovely, thoughtful comfort food. There are such cute touches in the dishes there. I recently had a creamy tomato soup with a WAFFLE served with it. It was a bit whimsical yet very tasty. And the chocolate cake with raspberry sauce was amazing. Their food is great...even for us meat eaters!

I really like the mix of food the Earwax Cafe serves. There is so much vegan/vegetarian stuff on the menu so vegans/vegetarians won't just have one dish to choose from like they do at a lot restaurants. But meat eaters can also choose to eat meat if they want. In addition, they have fantastic vegan desserts and soy milkshakes. Really they have something for everyone! And my server was very helpful when I couldn't decide what to order!

I stumbled upon this place when I was walking around downtown Bellevue. It's fairly hidden. It is a truly authentic Japanese restaurant but you won't find much sushi. What you will find is homestyle Japanese food like gyoza and Japanese curry with rice. They have set meals that come with soup, salad and rice. When I walked in the door, I felt like I was back in Japan. They have karaoke a couple of evenings a week, but I haven't been for that. They also serve alcohol including Japanese plum wine (ume-shu). Yum!

I don't really like the evenings at Kafein. I made the mistake of going there on a weekend night and it was packed with youngsters. It's fairly empty in the afternoons and now that they've got wi-fi, it's a great place to camp out with my laptop. Their milkshakes are delicious and they'll make them with non fat frozen yogurt. Oh and the mango smoothie is also fantastic. And they've got millions of coffee drinks, too. I've had food there a couple of times and it was nothing special. But my friend loves the apple pie.

For a long time, I only thought of Peso's as a cheezy meat market bar. But it's a surprisingly good restaurant as well. When I lived in Queen Anne, I had a lot of great dinners and brunches there. The brunch menu is sort of an upscale tex-mex take on brunch with lots of fun stuff like eggs benedict with jalapenos and chorizo. And they have great coffee. It's not just a terrible bar!

I absolutely love Bagel Oasis bagels. They are the best bagels I've had in Seattle. And yet on another level, I hate the Bagel Oasis. The service there is terrible. I can't tell you the number of times I have waited forever just to have a bagel toasted. And a year or two ago, they "remodeled" and the place looks worse inside. It was done on the cheap and the plywood booths are awful.
Get your bagels to go and enjoy them at home.

Hot Mama's looks like a total hole in the wall from the outside, but their pizza is fantastic. I think it is the best in Seattle. New York style with a great thin crust. Yum! I especially like the pesto pizza. It has a pesto sauce (not tomato), mozzarella cheese and like a feta type of cheese as well. It is amazing! And cheap!

I really like this place. It's got a nice atmosphere with an open kitchen so you can glance over and see your food being made. Considering the care taken with the menu and ingredients, it's reasonably priced. The portions are just the right size - not so big that you get totally stuffed but big enough that you're not thinking "where's the food." Good service. A nice place for a date or dinner with friends. I've heard the breakfast/brunch is great but I haven't tried it myself. I can't wait to go back to Crave.
