We worked with Hal Feiger to buy our house and found him to be a wonderful, even entertaining, agent. He wasn't pushy in the slightest and even advised us against buying a house we really wanted. We ended up in a home which is just perfect for us. We'll certainly use Hal again next time we're in the real estate market, which, given the craziness of realty in the bay area, hopefully wont be for a long long time. Plus our house is perfect and we can't imagine moving.
Tell him we sent you!

I'm a connoisseur of Vietnamese food, especially Bun, and this place has the best I've found in downtown SF. The grilled pork in the Bun Thit has a nice slightly sweet flavor and they put a fair amount of mint and veggies in to boot. The fish sauce.. well, it's fish sauce. I wouldn't drink it, but it tastes good mixed up with the noodles.
The Vietnamese coffee is good, but I can't say I've ever had a bad one.
Decor? We're talking hole in the wall Vietnamese here.
Good food for under $5.

In my humble opinion, there isn't a better bakery or dessert place in the North End. Or in Boston for that matter. Kim likes the Ricotta Canoli's. They take her back to her youth. I like the German Chocolate Cake. Little know fact, the Italians make the best German Chocolate Cake.
There'll be a big crowd of people milling about, who don't really get the system. Be aggressive and maneuver your way up to the front. Don't bother trying to eat there. Getting a seat takes forever and you'll have so many people crowded around your table, it's not worth it.

It's hard to go wrong at a pizza place in Boston, but this place is a notch above the rest. Doesn't matter much what you get, it's going to be thin and it's going to be good. I tend to stick to pepperoni and cheese but that's more of a personality flaw than a recommendation.
The staff is consistently short, brusk, and downright rude. Welcome to Boston. Get used to it. Or move back to California.

This place has been around since the dot com days. I used to eat there back in '97 when I worked at Wyzdom technologies. Wyzdom is long since gone, but X is still there, with there signature three item lunch menu. You get the veggie dish, the meat dish, or the chef's special (always chicken tikka masala with rice and veggies). The veggie of the day alternates but it's always good. I always order the chef's special and get extra veggies instead of my rice. Helps with the afternoon post-lunch sleep coma to skip the rice, plus the veggies taste better anyhow.

Good North Indian cuisine. I started going to the Berkeley restaurant the minute they replaced the old Zona Rosa on Telegraph. It was change for the better. The Chicken Tikka Masala has a strong tandoori flavor and their naan bread is big soft and chewy. The people I go there with say the Palaak Paneer is good to, but I wouldn't know.. don't eat spinach. Anyway, it's the best Indian food near campus or in Elmwood. Might be the only one, but I'd wager if there was another they'd still be the best. Oh, and you'll usually find them playing modern dance club style indian music.. not the sappy Indian musical blah you hear at most other Indian restaurants.

This Chocolat-esque chocolate cafe is an unique cafe not to be missed in any visit to Rockridge. I don't even particularly like chocolate, but I find myself craving their "Spicy" drink more often than I like to admit. They often have free tastes of their pastries at the counter. The staff is uber-friendly and perky, probably from ingesting sugar and caffeine loaded chocolate drinks all day long. Not enough seating though. When we go, we don't even bother trying to grab a table or chair to linger.

Put on your hippest threads and get ready to wait a little. This trendy spot on Potrero Hill has an ace menu. I've never had anything I didn't love. It's a little pricey if you're looking to fill up. My trick is to get the soup of the day (only $5) which is usually pretty filling, then dabble in a handful of their tapas. The bread and hummus they bring to the table is really good.. though it dissappears a little too fast.
If they're full, ask if there's room in the lounge. It's like their moody chillout room, half a block down the street. I like the ambiance in the lounge even better than the restaurant.

I always get the fiery thai noodles with chicken. Add lots of lime and you're in for a great meal. It's usually too much food to finish, so you can get a doggie bag and give the leftovers to any of the hundreds of homeless people outside on Telegraph.

Leslie Ceramics is a nice local ceramics supply place. The staff are knowledgable about most things ceramic... differences in clay bodies, glaze material substitutions, etc. Their selection of tools is pretty good. For run of the mill stuff (sponges, basic tools), you'll probably get it cheaper at a more generic art supply place. They're great if you need a pound of some glaze material and don't want to wait and order it from someplace on the net. I used to thing their prices were higher than ClayPeople up in Richmond, but I've done some more extensive price comparisons, and they're actually less for most things. Kiln hardware seems to be cheaper at ClayPeople, but glaze materials average less at Leslie's.
