Miami's Best Pizza is a local spot for good pizza. The crust is on the thin side -- not exactly brick oven style, but tasty. The toppings were fresh and the pizza was prepared quickly. The staff was very friendly. It is popular for carry-out as well as eating in. Very family friendly. When we were there -- there was a little league team eating after a game. It is located across from the University of Miami -- so there is often a college crowd as well. A good choice for take-out or a casual night out with the family.

If you want the "South Beach Experience" -- this is the place to have it. The prices are high -- but the atmosphere is wonderful and exactly what you would expect. The decor is very modern and chic. There is a good probability that you will spot a star or two while you are having your drinks. The pool area is wonderful as well. They also serve food in the restaurant on the property -- again, it is quite pricey, but very good.

This restaurant has a big menu -- with a wide variety of choices. It is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner -- with breakfast being my choice for the best food. The food is not necessarily the best on South Beach and it is a little expensive for the quality -- but they bring you plenty of it and the service is good. What you are paying for is the view. This is a wonderful place to "people watch." I'm told that stars do hang out here -- although I have yet to see one.

The University of Miami is a wonderful school that attracts the top students and professors from across the country. Recently ranked by US News and World Report -- the school continues to climb in the national ratings. There are lots of non-educational opportunities as well on campus: theatre, movies, sports, music, etc. The students are friendly for the most part and the faculty is caring. Conveniently located in the Coral Gables area of Miami -- you get the "small community" feel of a college campus -- yet you are minutes away from the "big city" feel of Miami.

South Miami Dental Association is a collection of about 4-5 Dentists. I have seen 2 of them and highly recommend both. The dental assistants who actually clean your teach are wonderful as well. They are very gentle and friendly. The drawback to this particular office is that it can take 5-6 months to get an appointment for a cleaning!! I also find the front desk staff to be very rude. They will often carry on conversations, answer telephones and go about business while you stand there and wait -- before they even take a second to greet you. You almost ALWAYS have to wait --as they are generally running behind.

Dr. Fink is a wonderful Ob/Gyn!! He is extremely nice and laid back -- yet you never feel rushed with him. He takes his time with each person and makes them feel very comfortable -- as if they were his only patient. I find him very easy to trust and ask questions. The nurses in his office are very nice. The only con I've found is that his office staff can sometimes be a bit disorganzied.

Dr. Schneider is a wonderful Optometric Physician. He is very thorough and gentle with his patients. The office staff is extremely nice and organized. His office mostly runs on schedule -- I rarely have to wait for an appointment. They have a fairly large selection of glasses frames as well. I highly recommend Dr. Schneider in South Miami.

This is a wonderful spa!! I had a massage there for my birthday and am looking forward to returning. The atmosphere is extremely relaxing from the moment you enter the door. The staff is very nice and efficient. My massage therapist actually worked even longer than what I had paid for. The only negative comment is that I think the prices are a little on the high side -- but in my case anyway -- it was worth every penny!!

Drive past Shorty's on a weekend evening or Sunday afternoon -- and the line is almost always out the door. This is a very casual, family friendly restaurant that also does a lot of take-out business. The BBQ is the best we've found in Miami -- slow cooked. The babyback ribs and chicken are excellent and the sauce is tangy. A good amount of sides to choose from as well. I found the prices to be reasonable and the service to be good.

Coconut Grove Playhouse does some great work. They typically choose a diverse season and often bring in well-known actors, directors and designers. Coconut Grove Playhouse is one of the top professional theatres in the country and is a great benefit to the community. It is centrally located in the community of Coconut Grove -- within walking distance of Coco Walk which has great shopping and good pre and post theatre restaurants.
The major downside is the seating -- the slant to the seating is very small and the audience area is very wide. It is therefore difficult to get a great view of the stage without having to lean to see around the person sitting in front of you.
