There's many good deals to be found on hardware in this dank upstairs Chinatown hardware store (outpost of True Value), with prices often much less than neighboring hardware stores in nearby East Village, but often it's hard to communicate exactly what part your looking for since most of the people working there don't speak english so well. Go look up Mandarin for "Wingnut" and you'll have no problem, though!

Although it is a tiny place centrally located in the East Village, Saifee Hardware has an immense amount of home and garden supplies crammed into its stacked aisles. There's kitchen utensils, plumbing, great gardening supplies (pots, seeds, planters, soil, hangers, etc.), electrical supplies, cleaning, decoration and great hanging lights. All with friendly, if somewhat rushed service.

Quick, friendly service direct from Alan, the owner who looks after all the customers, and is fun to swap stories with while you're there. Although it is a bit remote from all the nearby subway and bus lines if you have to drop off your car for the day, it is worth the trip since they give every car pretty individual attention.
