The food at this restaurant never disappoints. I’ve been here twice, and each time I’ve gone I am impressed. It is perfect for a first date, very intimate setting. They serve Southwestern fare with an elegant twist. The bar area is always busy as well. Conveniently central. The only problem is the parking – it is located in a strip mall so there isn’t always available parking.

This is a wonderful little bookstore tucked away in the Central Corridor. It carries new books, new music, and other types of gifts and cards. They even have an extensive used book section with older, but still applicable books. It is a great place to check out during a lunch break downtown.

Durant’s is, by far, my absolute favorite Steakhouse in all of Phoenix. With its red-lined interior and tuxedoed servers, Durant’s is a throwback to an earlier time. The atmosphere is causally elegant, and the food is stellar. Try the prime-rib, you won’t regret it! Makes for a perfect date night or just when you want something really special. Don’t miss it!!!

The Fiesta Inn is a great little hotel in a sea of chain hotels. The rooms are a bit small, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in charm. It has ample space for weddings and other events, and the food has been good every time I’ve attended. The pool area is nice, and the grounds are old but well maintained. Would stay here again.

This bookstore has a very surreal quality to it. It is very peaceful. The people who work there are very knowledgeable and passionate about books. I also like the fact that there is a Wildflower Bread Co. attached to the bookstore, so one can get coffee or tea while you read a good book. The quality of selection has always been superior, and I always look forward to a visit to Changing Hands.

This is an okay Mexican restaurant. It certainly isn’t authentic Mexican food, but it works. I think it is way overpriced for what they offer. Better than their food is their Margaritas – try the House and the Strawberry! Decent atmosphere, the service is a little slow (but it is a large restaurant). Sit in the bar if you can.

The Herberger Theater is a wonderful venue in downtown Phoenix. It is small, yet large enough to accommodate full size shows and events. Each time I go, I always have a good time. Because of its size, most, if not all of the seats are good ones. I also appreciate that they are involved with the arts community and help children get involved with theater.
