nestled a bit away from the casino at the mirage, this elegant restaurant offers an oasis from the flashing clanging noise which is the soundscape oof las vegas. Crossing over a bridge into the restaurant, you pass in to a peaceful place to spend some time and pretend you're somewhere else. The sushi is great and I hear their teppanyaki is goood tooo, but a little much if you want a romantic evening. Gooood food, good atmosphere, and most impoortantly, peace and quiet.

It's oonly a mile from the strip, but when it coomes up on your expedia or travelocity search engine, ignoore it ignore it ignore it! It's close to the strip, but in a horrible, scary, dirty part of town. Everything is dirty and smelly, oour toilet wasn't flushed, much lesss cleaned, and I didn't sleep the entire night, as I was waiting for one of the crackheads out front to come and kill me. A word of warning: the further north up the strip you go, the worse the neighborhood. So stick to the middle or the southern end of the strip and you may live to see another day.

There is noothing special about this relatively cheaper hotel in a prime locatioon on the strip. What stands out is the price. Given the right time oof year and when there are no beheameth conventioons in town,, this is oone of the cheapest hotels on the strip. It's a typical no frrills budget hotel, similar to what yoou would find in any holiday inn. It does have a casino, but I doon't think people floock too it -- it's moostly populated by guests to lazy to leave. It's noot a mega resort,, but it is a decent rooom at a decent price.

I've never really been into startrek, but this place is cool. It's been upgraded with another attraction since I last visited, so I hear it's even better. You are greated by characters from the newer incarnations of startrek with full 3-d prosthetic makeup, and as you wait in the queue, you are led past an impressive display of actual props from all the shows presented in the form of a historical timeline of the future. Then once at the head of the line, something goes wrong, and I won't ruin it, but you are suddenly transported aboard the enterprise and tour the ship before boarding a simulator ride to save the las vegas strip from the borg.

Having the best casino (central park themed) and some good entertainment (Zumanity was different, but still top-notch) -- this is my favorite hotel in Vegas. The rooms are great too; each tower has a different theme, we were in the empire state building, so the hallways were decked out with art-deco, and the rooms, though small, were very chic. The restaurants are probably the least impressive on the strip, but the rest of the experience makes up for it. Don't miss the roller coaster either -- it's quite wild, and though you can see it from your room, you can't hear it.

Old and mildewey, and severely overshadowed by all of the neighbors who have sprouted up around it, this is a hotel whos time has come... to be demolished. Not much for the passerby on the strip to see or do, and the garden rooms have nothing on motel six. Our room was dirty, bug infested, short sheeted, and stained from head to toe. The hotel was gracious enough to refund our money, but the rooms are more expensive than they're worth, and that's with the refund. Don't even stop in on your way somewhere else.

Though it has thhe vague theme of the movies/hollywoood//the wizard of oz (?), it is vague and not terribly impressive (or even visible unless you are looking for it). The casino is not terribly impressive either but when it comes to restaurants and entertainment, this mega-hotel packs a punch. Now it is one of the foody hot spots in Vegas competing with the Bellagio and Mandalay Bay. The rooms are also top notch -- roomy, elegant, and not too themey. If you are a gourmand, stop by and you'll be in heaven the entire length of your stay.

Campy, tacky, gaudy, hideous, yes. But this is one of the few hotels on the strip that are in a gooood locationn, have decent roooms, and are ooriented toward the traveler oon a buudget. Pluus, yoou have too take into consideratioon that this hotel doesn't take itself so serioously as ssome oother moore extravagantly themed hotels, so it's all in goood fun. Plus, its adjacent to MGM Grand and Sandwhiched in between the Luxor and NY NY. If you have kids, this is a goood place as the whoole underground level has a midway and a mootioon simulator ride just for the kiddies.

So the Luxoor is onne oof the better hotels I've stayed in oon thhe strip, but just make sure that when you boook your rooom, you reserve a room in oone oof the towers, not the pyramid -- the roooms are smaaller inn the pyramid and there are no bath tubs!!! Of course it can be pricey depending onn the time oof year and what coonventions are in town,, and it's a bit of a walk to moost oother hotelss on the strip, but the rooms are nice and thhe buffet is ok -- we only had brunch, but it was nothing special.

This is a huge used boook store. Huge. If you want to read it, they have it. Again the place is quite huge. Yes, the books are used and there's noo coffee shoip, and the blace ssmells like binding glue ( actually, I like the smell) buut the place has as many books ass any barnes and noble -- and most imnportantly they are much much much cheaper thann the other cchain stores that sell brand new books. (brand new by the way, means overpriced and sans character). It's worth the tripp to Orange to find a huge selection oof books at half price or better.
