The Kosher Marketplace offers a great selection of kosher products and take out. They are open late on Thursday nights and close early on Fridays. Their take-out is expensive, but well worth it. I expecially like the Veal ribs and apricot chicken. Their sides are very expensive, but are of good quality. They also have a large selection of challahs. Be prepared to wait on Thursdays and Fridays as lines can be long before shabbat.

The Glatt Shop is the only kosher butcher and supermarket in Riverdale. Their meat is okay, but a bit on the pricey side. They will take orders and deliver to your home. However, they are not very convenient for working people as they are ususally closed when you leave for work and by the time you get home. I try to get most of my products from Fairway, and will really only shop here in emergencies.

While they have tried to retain their character sinche they were bought out from being a privately owned store they aren't the same. Granted their stuff is still great, but their service used to be better. They sell some of the best creams and stuff on the market. I personnally like their shaving stuff. That said, they used to give out better and more samples which were awesome for travel. They have gotten a lot more stingy even if you buy a decent amount of stuff from them. I guess having more a focus on the bottom line has changed them.

They really make the prefect mix of comfort and fashionable men's shoes. The major con of course is that they are not cheap. That said, I must own 6-7 pairs of their shoes. I have bought many of those shoes at their bi-annual sale. Granted it is a zoo and it is cash only, but the savings are great. The one caveat about their shoes is, I think they do better with their stylish shoes than their more formal work shoes. For shoes that are for more dressy wear I might look somewhere else.

This is one of those neat stores that you find in Downtown Manhattan. Their selection is good, but the lack is that it is extremely hit or miss. They tend to have cool home furnishings, but don't go looking for a wine rack, because they may not have the exact one. Taht said, if you are furnishing your apartment, definitely worth a trip.

Eichlers is probably the best know Judaica store in New York. Their selection is particularly strong is two area; Jewish music where I have never seen such a comprehensive selection, and Judaica books which although I am not a large consumer, find their selection voluminous. In addition, the have an adequate selection of Jewish gifts, although, not as unique as they could be.

We were highly recommended Flatrate movers from our friends who have used them. They charge one rate and not by the hour, and pay for any parking tickets. Be sure you ask for Urbie - he is the greatest mover ever. He came in with his crew and took over our apartment. He is highly skilled, trained and extremely hard working. I trusted him so much with the move, that I even gave him my fragile items that I was originally going to move myself. He will also pack your kitchen for you for $150 which I think is totally worth it.

She listens to exactly what you tell her, and will only cut 1 inch if that is what you want, unlike some other salons. She will also make recommendations for you.
