LIJ is more than OK

LIJ is a pretty good hospital. Overall, the nursing care is good and the it boasts a strong staff of physicians. However, the major complaint would be that Northshore is a nicer hospital, although the staff is probably a little better at LIJ. It is worth noting the the Northshore LIJ system has gone through layoffs recently which may impact patient care. In addition, the ER at LIJ is terrible. It is overcroweded and often has patient sin teh ahllway area. A new ER is under construction and when that is finished it should alleviate this major ER congestion.
