Poulet is a nice attempt at a French style dinner, but lacks that extra something (or those extra somethings) to make it a quality meal out. It occupies a nice corner building on Shattuck north of the university, complete with books and decor celebrating the poulet (chicken).
And yet, they serve you with paper plates and plastic forks.
The chicken is great--served either as a breast or leg, and tastes like what mom used to make at home. The available side salads range from cous cous to caesar to fruit salad, and are nice additions to the meal.
This being said, Poulet. as hinted above, falls short at offering you a satisfactory dinner. On a cold foggy day (with the door constantly open), the chicken was warm at best. They're not too generous with their servings either: one leg or 1/4 breast, and a spoonful of your selected salad. At the price of $9.50 for a piece of chicken, two salad sides and an old piece of bread thrown in as an afterthought, student diners may be crying foul. If you're craving chicken, you may be better of grabbing a couple pieces to go.
The service was friendly enough, though the person who looked to have the most experience there still managed to start serving my friend with too small a plate, and had to transfer it all to a larger (still paper) plate.
The chicken deserved better than that.

I would have to place Chaat Cafe near the top of Indian places close to campus. A clean, pleasant place with too much seating (every time I've gone at least) and friendly staff (of one or two). I am not an expert on Indian food, but I do know that it offers plenty of the typical choices to keep me happy, and if you go with someone in the know on Chaat, you'll likely find something to love.
The prices are a dollar or two above Naan N' Curry, but in return it offers an unobtrusive atmosphere and you don't smell like smoke afterward. They have forgotten to bring part of an order once or twice, but it is not a big problem and easily remedied. I highly recommend it for a pleasant dinner when craving Indian food.

(Whoops, I meant this for the Berkeley location. Need to figure out how to delete this entry...)

Blondie's Pizza offers itself as the finest pizza for poor (and out of time) college students. Large slices for a few dollars makes it the go-to place for students looking for some quick food, especially now that across-the-street rival Greg's Pizza is gone. The pizza (and establishment itself) is greasy, and the mood is certainly Berkeley (the workers wearing tie-dye shirts). Running to (or away from) class, or simply strolling Telegraph in the afternoon, Blondie's makes for a good, cheap slice of pizza.
