Beat Street is a Fulton Mall classic. It is a huge store down in the basement that is full of every new hip-hop cd LP and 12 inch and they also have a giant collection of classic LPs and 12 inches. It is loud down there because they always have a DJ playing live. If you need any hip hop record ever made, especially on wax, this is the place to go.

The "other" sounds that was right next door closed. They would only put out like one cd from each artist and it would be locked in the bin. You had to "place an order" for your cds at the counter, like you were ordering a big mac. This Sounds isn't like that, though.

Gimmee's has a great selection of used LP's for such a small shop (not to mention that it also serves double-duty as a piano school). Always check the New Arrivals section, where you will find the choicest stuff. The regular bins can be somewhat average. The prices are decent especially considering that you will probably find something you've been looking for forever. Great selection of rock 60s-90s and good selection of hip-hop 12 inches. Always call before you go because the hours are somewhat unusual. They are only open thurs-sun and at weird times.
