When ipod minis first came out and the guy at J&R said that no one in the country had them, Mikey had them, in a choice of colors at the standard retail price. basically, he hooked it up. I'm not too sure what else he sells. I guess like a lot of video games. He definitely had some kind of mini guitar amps that were made inside old cigarette packs, too. They seemed pretty cool.

Iona used to just have beer and wine and it was a great little pub. Now they have a full bar and its even better. Even though it is in the epicenter or hipsterdom it is not very pretentious and has a good neighborhood feel. A nice backyard and little nooks in the front windows give you some options if you don't want to belly up to the bar.

One time, we went to the Blue Lady and there was a new bartender or maybe she was just a helper. I ordered a few drinks and she got them, but then got all flustered and couldn't add up the prices, so she gave them to me for free. I have been back a few times since then, but I have always had to pay for drinks. I just keep hoping I won't have to pay again. otherwise it is kind of boring.

Delicious and very inexpensive middle eastern restaurant, with take-out and delivery. Zaytoons has all the basics and they are done just right. Tons of stuff for vegetarians. For some reason the restaurant is never crowded, even though the take-out is way popular. You can even BYOB if you are dining in. Pickles in the sandwiches and fresh-baked pitas are the icing on the cake.

At Love Shine you can find old-school wrestling inspired paraphernalia, Mexican skeleton dolls, imported Japanese flip-flops and hand-made bags among other things. The owner is one of the nicest shop owners I have ever met. He repeatedly offered to let me exchange the bag I bought as gift, if it was not well-received, or if it ever broke or tore. Then he wrapped it elaborately with scraps of shiny paper and artificial flowers.

St. Marks Bookshop is not that big, but it has extensive window displays and more display/featured books inside. These displays are great for me when i need to find gifts and I can't think of anything. I also like the magazine selection. You are not going to find bargains like you will at the strand, but it is definitely less chaotic and easier to shop.

The prices are quite fair and they almost always have a few choices of every product to meet every price range.

Its still a decent car service, but sometimes you call and they don't even answer the phone, or they put you on hold forever, or they say they're coming, but then they don't. If you are going to China, you need to get tickets through an agent and Multi-Service is pretty good. Nancy found us a good price and exactly the itinerary we needed. The downside is you will have to go out to flushing to pick up the tickets, but its a good excuse to get out there and try some new restaurants to get yourself warmed up before your trip to china.
