I have only been to this store once or twice, but I must say that each time, I was a bit shocked by how high the prices were. The furniture is not antique or heirloom quality at all, for the most part, and yet it is priced as if it is. The furniture is similar to what you might find at a yard sale. I had several experiences in which I would notice an item, think it was nice, go over to it and check the price and then note to myself that it simply was not as nice as they wanted it to be. They were just a bit to proud of their furniture! I think they would be able to sell far more items if they lowered their price points a little. You can tell that they new furniture was recently built and it appears to be, for the most part, unfinished (again, with more of a "finished" price tag). All in all, you might be able to find a real bargain among the high prices, but that was not my experience.
Good luck!

That sounds very weird, but Kappy's is actually great! It really is like a supermarket - it is HUGE! I think they would have pretty much whatever you are looking for. That is very helpful, if you are looking for something rare or specific, especially if you live in the city. There are so many boutique or specialty type liquor stores in the city that might carry only wine, or only international beer or some other specific type of product. Kappy's carries everything... and it is all pretty inexpensive! I have also found the staff to all be pretty helpful and friendly as well. It is certainly worth a trip. The only thing is that driving to get there is horendous. If you know anything about that area of Everett, you will know that it is one of the least convenient roads around! It takes a bit of skill to get in and out of the parking lot, but if you can do it - you will probably need a drink afterwards! :)
Enjoy!

Motophoto is great if you need your film developed in a short period of time, since they are conveniently located in the financial district. However, I don't see many customers in the store, and I think it is only a matter of time before they reinvent themselves or fizzle out. They do have a selection of frames and photo albums, but they are expensive and it seems that you could purchase these exact types of items at less expensive places, such as Target or off of the internet. They do develop film in a short amount of time, but it is very expensive and I can't imagine they are doing much of that now that people are moving more and more into digital cameras. Overall, there is not much that is impressive about this store and no real reason to go to it unless you want to spend a lot of money on film developing or photo accessories!
Good luck.

Copy Cop strives very hard to be the best copy and print shop in the city. I have worked with them on several occasions over the past few years and have always been pleased. They try very hard to distinguish themselves as the local company (and a superior alternative to Kinko's). They are very quick to respond when you have an emergency (and it seems that most times that I used them, it was for some type of emergency!). They must have an amazing human resources staff, because their entire production and customer service staff has always been extremely helpful, courteous and always calmed me down with a smile on their face. They always go the extra mile, by delivering the order if they could tell I was under a deadline, etc. They even offered classes to help their customers better understand how to work with them so that the whole process goes more smoothly in the future.
I highly recommend them!

My husband has been going to get his hair cut at this place ever since he moved to Boston more than five years ago and has been very pleased with the hair cuts and prices he has received. He feels the prices are extremely reasonable and they always do a good job. It is a $12 haircut and he usually tips them $3. There is not a lot of talking and they shave with a strait razor when they are done. They have Sports Illustrated and Maxim in the front for you to read while you are waiting. Supposedly, they cut women's hair as well as mens, but my husband has never seen a woman in the shop. He goes every five weeks. If you don't go at lunch time, the wait is usually less than 10 minutes. No appointments necessary.
Enjoy!

My husband went to this place one time to get his hair cut and was very disappointed. He normally gets his hair cut at Central Barber Shop and felt that his hair cut from La Flamme was extremely overpriced and not as good as the cut he normally gets from Central. International male friends of ours really seem to enjoy this shop. The haircuts seem to be a bit "fancier" than the standard haircut and my husband is just as happy with a standard haircut. If you want a fancy haircut, or if you want to pay a lot for your haircut, this is the place for you.

The Orpheum Theater is a great place to see comedians or smaller musical acts. All the seats are pretty good. The acoustics are good and I don't think there are really any obstructed view seats. The theater feels small (in a good way) when you are seated, because the seats are comfortable and the decor is somewhat dark.
With all that being said, they tend to get very good acts - since I mostly remember being very entertained each time I have been to the theater! It is conveniently located right across the street from the Park Street T stop, so it is easy to get to whether you live in the city or are just coming in for an evening of entertainment.
Enjoy!

The MIT Coop is a great bookstore, although it is a bit expensive. On the main floor, they sell all kinds of books, snacks and MIT apparel and memorabelia. Downstairs, they sell stationary and other paper goods. The location of the store is great - they have lots of windows, so if you are waiting for a bus, you can browse some of the books while you are waiting and keep and eye on the bus stop! It is also attached to the Kendall Square food court and right next to the T stop. It is worth a visit, especially if you are in the area!

The Museum of Fine Arts is a beautiful museum - housed in one of the typical old,. gorgeous buildings that Boston is known for. This museum is a perfect fit for a city known for its tradition and culture. In addition to the many regular exhibits from around the world that have been in the museum forever, there is a steady stream of special exhibits that come to the museum for only a few months at a time. Recently, these exhibits have ranged from Ralph Lauren's Car Collection, to a collection of Monet paintings, to Ansel Adams' photographs. I have visited the museum many times over the years and would highly recommend a visit.

As a child, I attended daycare at the YMCA and we often took day trips to various places throughout Massachusetts. I always looked forward to the trips to the Children's Museum. It was always TONS of fun - there is an overwhelming selection of exhibits that are fully interactive so your kids can play and play and never realize that they are actually learning something! :)
One exhibit that I remember in particular (and I hope is still there!) was a traditional Japanese house. Kids had to take off their shoes when entering and could "play house" but it was very different than an American house. The table was low to the ground and you would sit on the ground to eat. Lots of other cool things as well, like Japanese decor.
There are lots of similarly wonderful exhibits. I hope to be able to bring my own future children there someday!
