Having grown up in Middleboro, Reynolds was always a big part of life. On very special occasions, such as the prom or graduation, they put together really nice boutonnieres and corsages. They also put together nice arrangements for other types of occasions - stopping by to visit a friend, "get well soon", etc. Somehow, though, in my mind, Reynolds must to most of their business around prom time since every corsage or boutonniere that any of my family or friends ever bought or received seemed to come from this place! They also sell nice plants as well. It is really worth a visit, if you are in the market for nice arrangements, fresh flowers or beautiful plants! I believe their prices are not too expensive.

I grew up in Middleboro and I have always been impressed with this Counsel on Aging. They have always been extremely active in the community, offering all kinds of activities and trips, etc, for the aging population. (As I child, I was often jealous of all the fun things they seemed to always be doing!). Several years ago, they build a gorgeous new building for the COA and it really is worth a visit. The COA is such an important part of the Middleboro community. I remember several times in High School and Junior High when the chorus I was in visited the COA and presented a concert and it was lots of fun! The staff seems very friendly and I would definitely recommend checking it out if you are an older resident in the area (I am not sure what the minimum age is - sorry!).
Enjoy!

This is truly a WONDERFUL place. Charis Counseling Center is located behind the First Congregational Church at the Green in Middleboro and I believe is funded by this church. The counselors at the center (especially the head of the center, Eric S.) are some of the most caring, dedicated people I know. If you live anywhere in the greater Middleboro area and are looking for Christian based counseling, I would really recommend that you check it out. I know several people who have used their services over the years and have been very pleased. I also know the head of the center personally, as we attended the same church for many years, and he is a wonderful person. If you are in need of these types of services, I would highly recommend it!

This nursery school is a part of the church I attended while growing up. Happiness Is has always been an integral part of the church family and the larger community of Middleboro. It is a great place to start your child's education, especially if you want their education to be rooted in Christianity. All the teachers are very nice and are all very dedicated to the Nursery School and to the children. If I still lived close by, I would be happy to send my future children to this nursery school! I would highly recommend it!

I grew up in this church. It is a wonderful place to spend your Sundays! It is a Congregational Church, which, in essence, means that while their theology is conservative, they don't get caught up in the smaller details (i.e. you can Baptize your baby when it is born, or you can be Baptized as an adult, when you are ready - the church does not mandate which is correct, they just encourage you to be baptized at some point!). The church building itself is gorgeous - it is very old and very large. If you are looking for a place to have your wedding, it is a perfect choice, since it is a white country church with a center aisle (and two side aisles as well). The church has a large, beautiful organ as well. I would recommend checking it out if you are looking for a church in the area. The church family is very spiritual and very welcoming.
Enjoy!

There are not many drive-ins left in this area, so it is pretty easy to be called the "best" drive-in theater, but I am pretty sure that even if there were dozens in the area, this one would still rise to the top. My husband and I have been to this theater on several occasions while we were vacationing up the area over the years. They always show a double feature of two movies - the first one is usually slightly old and the second movie is usually a movie that is running in regular in-door movie theaters as well. They have an extensive concession stand that carries everything from popcorn to pizza to soda - and it is all good - just thinking about it is making me want to go there! :) For those who have not been to a drive-in for many years, you can now tune to a radio station that carries the sound for the movie rather than having to keep your window open and hang a speaker off of it... which makes a WORLD of difference! It seems to be family owned. Get there early if you want a good spot - it fills up pretty fast! The only downside is that the bathrooms are pretty yucky (kind of like campground bathrooms). I love this place - and highly recommend it!

The USS Constitution, or "Old Ironsides" is an old navy ship that is parked in Charlestown, MA. Several times, as a youngster, I visited this ship on field trips with my various classes in school. It is very interesting to get an up close and personal look at what it is really like to live on a ship like this. I remember in particular how it was somewhat difficult to climb through all the various entrances to the different rooms and I remember realizing how agile you really need to be to be in the military! It really brings home how tight the quarters are for the men and women that have to live at sea for long periods of time. It would be very touching to visit the ship now, especially during the current war time and to reflect on the men and women serving us in very similar types of ships.
It is worth a visit to this ship, whether you have lived here forever and have never seen it, or if you are visiting as a tourist.
Enjoy!

The Somerville Theater is awesome! It is very old and it capitalizes on this with its decor (either that or it has not renovated in a VERY long time!)... either way, the decor is fun and makes you feel like you are going back in time - at least to the 1950s or so.
The theater is located right in the heart of Davis Square and plays mostly second run movies. They have a small concession stand and the seats cannot be compared to those in modern theaters (i.e. not very comfortable), but somehow the comfort and intimacy that the theater itself provides makes up for the uncomfortable seats.
It is a rare treat to visit an old, still-independent movie theater these days and Somerville Theater certainly delivers! It is a big part of Davis Square's charm.
Enjoy!

This is basically an economy motel. It is clean and comfortable, but not really fancy. It is extremely conveniently located, though, so if you are visiting Boston or Cambridge and you are just basically going to be sleeping at your hotel, this is a great place to stay. It is attached to a Thrifty Rental Car place, which is great if you need to rent a car. It is also directly across the street from the T, so it is easy to jump right on when you want to get anywhere. The staff is always helpful and courteous. In the summertime, they often have deals where you can rent a room for $89 or $99 per night, which is generally the least expensive price around, by far. We booked a block of rooms for our guests when we were getting married at a different hotel in Harvard Square and the guests that stayed here were happy with the accommodations. We recommend it, especially when you are looking for price first!

My husband stayed at this hotel when he was visiting Boston and Harvard University before attending graduate school here (Harvard scheduled his visit and put him up in this hotel). This is also the hotel where Harvard puts up visiting and prospective faculty members. My husband feels that it is nicer than the Charles Hotel (which is often considered the nicest hotel in Harvard Square) because it is more of a boutique hotel and you get more personal attention as a client. He was very impressed by the fact that they provide bathrobes to clients. There is a nice atrium in the middle where they serve breakfast (either buffet or menu style). He highly recommends this hotel!
