Grand in Size, not so in taste 3/27/2006

My mom was in town and wanted to treat me to a Chinese dinner. My dear husband HATES Chinese food, so I rarely get the pleasure of eating it. Mother, ever indecisive, tends to prefer buffets for chinese and has been spoiled by a fairly good one in her hometown. We selected Grand buffet because it seemed like it would have a large selection of stuff, and it's always fairly busy. When we entered, I was not terribly impressed with the smell. It seemed a little "fishy" to me. They offer sushi with their buffet, but we'd already decided that we weren't willing to risk that. The buffet had the aforementioned sushi along with a salad bar and tons of "hot" choices-- traditional and not so traditional. We loaded up our plates and went to sit down. My mother declared that the food was "not so good as at home, but good" but I was not impressed AT ALL. It was luke warm at best and everything seemed greasy and fatty. Bleck. more
