I recently saw Alan Tosler (one of the owners) for a haircut and came out feeling and looking fabulous! The reason I love Tosler Davis and keep recommending it to everyone I know is because you can get an amazing haircut, wash, blowout, and color for a great price and not feel like you were taken! It's in a cute loft space down by Union Square and is unpretentious and welcoming. After searching and trying 20 million different salons, the haircut I received has been by far one of the best. There is also a great write up of them in NY Magazine (www.nymetro.com).

What can be said about Fairway? The perfect NYC supermarket! Fairway is the best for fresh fruit, veggies, meats, cheeses, dairy and the list goes on and on. You could go in there, buy food for a week and spend less than you would at any of the chain markets in the city. Granted it's always crowded, but they do deliver and never run out of anything. Try their homemade pasta and sauces and nutty granola.

I used to love this store for cute, cheap, trendy clothing that was always complimented. I had a very bad experience with them last summer and I have not been back since. I bought a shirt off the sale rack and asked the salesperson if I should try it on. She discouraged me for several reasons: they were closing the store and she didn't want to be bothered, and the shirt was "one size fit all" so she said just buy it. So instead of trying it on I bought it and took it home. I tried it on when I got home and found about 3 holes in it. The next morning I called the store to complain and even explained that I was discouraged from trying it on and they told me that they have a no return, no store credit policy. So basically I bought it and it was mine forever. In the end I had to throw the shirt out and wasted forty dollars on nothing. Their stuff is cheap and poorly made.

We love Hunter's!! There is never a wait, the service is great and the food is fresh and delicious. We also love the fact that there is no "attitude" and the mood is relaxing. They make a killer omelet with spinach and goat cheese and i am told the corn beef hash is great. We have also been there for dinner which draws an older crowd but again, have never been disappointed in the food or the service.

I really like Jeniette for a good, quick manicure and pedicure. They have been written up several times in Allure magazine which is how I found them years ago. They are great to go to for a lunchtime quickie and they will do both at the same time which is time saving and convenient! I have also gotten my eyebrows done there by Rosa. The decor is nothing to brag about but they use clean instruments and foot baths.
ps. They run a special on Monday and Tuesday (I think) if you pay in cash.

Since this place is right on the way to subway on 86th Street, I am constantly dropping off shoes for some type of repair. They are great about cleaning up, polishing, adding new heels, etc. I have never been dissatisfied with their work or customer service. They are also really great about doing rush jobs if need be. Prices are very fair.

I have been using Stanislav at Ros Tailoring for about 5 years now and am always satisfied with the way my jeans are hemmed. I am on the shorter side and since jeans are made for women six feet and over, it's hard to find someone who will keep the original bottom so that the jeans don't look like they were shortened. He also once fixed a pair that I was about to throw out and made them like new again. It's $25+ for the process but well worth it!

I started using this Splendid when I moved to the neighborhood and have had only good experiences with them. They are very reasonably priced for the area and pay special attention to stains and spots. There is never a wait and I also like the fact that they remember you when you walk in.

If you are looking for the perfect black and white cookie, look no further than Greenberg's bakery on Madison between 82nd and 83rd streets. While this bakery bakes up every kind of cookie possible, I only go for the black and white's which are cake like. They are moist and chewy with the perfect amount of sweet icing on top. They can satisfy any sweet tooth! They are kind of pricey per cookie ($3.00) but are definitely worth it.

Lupa is quite special if you are looking for real authentic Italian food. Mario Batali is one of the owners, and everything he touches is delicious! The prices are incredible as well for a 4 star (in my opinion) restaurant. There are small veggie platters, cured meats, and cheeses to choose from. There are also main courses as well. My favorite is the homemade pasta with butter, cracked black pepper and Parmesan cheese. It's simplicity is what makes it so tasty. Also, for dessert try the fresh ricotta with drizzled honey. It rocks!
