Most bed and breakfasts have so much gingham and dried flowers that you feel like you're back in grandma's 1980 living room. Sanford House has the charm but not the cutesiness. The rooms are comfortable; each is unique and elegant.
If you really feel like going all out, try the "cabins" that are away from the main house. Each is like a small apartment complete with large bathroom, kitchen, and dining area. They are very well appointed - my husband and I considered staying here for our honeymoon.
The grounds of the Sanford house are also very impressive. There is a pool, a gazebo, and outdoor dining all in a well kept garden.
It can be hard to get in touch with anybody there. While planning the wedding I called and called and finally gave up in frustration. However, this is a great alternative to the big, same old same old hotels.
