I remember when this place used to be the main theater in the AV. We used to consider it a nice place to go. Then Movies 22 opened up and it FAR surpassed Movies 12. Now when I go into Movies 12, it's sad to see how trashed the place has become. Some of the screens have rips in them and are taped back together, some of the chairs are broken, the floor is often pretty dirty, the arcade is always dirty, I've heard rumors of needles in the seats and sick stuff like that, so always check your seats before you sit down (there could be gum on it even, who knows). BUT, despite all of this, it's still an awesome place to go b/c movies only cost $1 or $1.50. You can't beat that...movie rentals are even more expensive. So we put up with it and live with the non-stadium seating to watch a cheap movie :)

The type of this school is "Public school"...it's not in the list of options for some reason. Anyways. I graduated from this high school. This school is not that great, but only because all of the people that would make it better have left. A lot of parents send their kids to Desert HS or elsewehere. There are a few REALLY good teachers at this school that don't get as much credit for their work as they should. There are also some really bad teachers at this school. For students to do well here they're really going to need to have some initiative or someone really pushing them to do well b/c there isn't much to be said for the school trying to encourage/inform students so they do better. If you take the initiative to do well, get all the info for college, and take advantage of all the opportunities that aren't even presented to you, then you will succeed. Otherwise, it's just an average school and it's getting worse since they took out all AP classes and online classes and many other programs and teachers that encourage students to excel. They also need a better program for informing students about college applications... I could probably keep going with comments. But this school is really what you make of it.

This place is pretty expensive, but if you need photo stuff, they WILL have it. They have a lot of high quality stuff. They also have very knowledgeable employees that can give you recommendations on whatever you want to know that is camera related. If you have a nice camera that needs to be fixed or cleaned I would recommend going here instead of trusting the people at Best Buy or something to do it. I'd say this is the number 1 place to get photo stuff in the AV.

This isn't just a cards and comics store. They've also got a huge assortment of other hobby items. This is a good place to find it if you can't find it elsewhere. They sell balsa wood for making model airplanes, parts for RC cars, train sets, even chemistry beakers! So if you have a hobby and you're looking for something specific, I would recommend going here. If they don't have it, I'm sure they can tell you exactly where you can find it, or maybe they'll even order it for you.

This is such a good place to eat! I used to go with my family all the time in Lancaster (not sure if that one is still open or not?). It's an interesting atmosphere having it in the mall now. The portions they give you are always huge and the cost is very reasonable. The place is decorated with all kinds of interesting Texan stuff. The one in Lancaster used to have this train that would travel around the restaurant, I'm not sure if the one in the mall does or not. But it's an interesting place to go see...and to eat at too! And the waiters/waitresses are always REALLY nice! GO EAT HERE! :)

This place has great stuff. Every time I go there I wish I could buy a bunch of things, but unfortunately most of it is a little too expensive for me. But they always have off-season sales where you can save a lot of money. Every summer they will have a winter stock sale and every winter they have a summer stock sale, so just go in the off season if you know there's something you want and you want a good deal on it. The people that work there are always really friendly too.

Funland is a fun place to go hang out if you're bored. It has appeal to kids, teenagers, and families. There is a huge arcade, mini golf, batting cages, bumper boats, and go carts. And unlike most theme parks, there's no admission fee, you just pay for whatever activity you want to do. I recommend playing mini golf! At night time there tends to be a lot of older kids hanging around and loitering in the parking lot, so if you don't feel safe in that kind of environment, I would recommend going in the day time.

If you're a teenager in the AV, there's not a whole heck of a lot of places to go have fun where you can keep out of trouble, especially at night time. The bowling alley is a great place to go and have fun. It is a little pricey, so I recommend going during cosmic bowling, lock-ins, or discounted hours. Another option is joining a bowling league (tons of fun!). They also have pool, an arcade, a jukebox, and a bar, if you're into any of those. This isn't the coolest bowling alley I've ever been to, but cooler ones also tend to be more expensive...

If you're in the Antelope Valley and you're going to see a movie and you're NOT going to Cinemark 22 then you must be imagining things. Hooray for the biggest theater in the valley! The fact that it's the one you HAVE to go to makes it get 5 stars. The place is kept up nicely enough so I can't make any complaints. And the stadium seating, rocking chairs, and lifting armrests are nice features too. And even though it might be pricey compared to the rest of the theaters in the valley, it is a heck of a bargain compared to theaters in LA... Especially if you go to the earliest showings.

If you take the 105 West until the road ends at the beach, you will end up exactly in the parking lot. This is a great beach to go hang out at night and have a bonfire or a bbq in the firepits (they're all up and down the beach right off of the parking lot and RV park). It gets pretty chilly at night so bring something warm and it's noisy b/c of the airplanes taking off from LAX, but it's definitely a lot of fun anyways. The beach is kept clean for the most part. Parking in the lot is relatively cheap from what I recall, but you can find free parking along the road if you don't mind walking a long way to get to the fire pits (and make sure you move your car by 10pm...they start ticketing AT 10).
