Paramount's Great America is your standard roller coaster theme park, not unlike any "Six Flags" roller coaster them park you would find anywhere else in the states.
That said, the park does have lots of different coasters, including Top Gun, where your legs dangle off the coaster, Grizzly, a wooden, rickety roller coaster, and Invertigo, where the coaster shoots you forwards and backwards for a really wacko ride.
Food at the park, not surprisingly, is not cheap and rather expensive. A burger can cost you upwards of $9 for crappy theme-park food; a Coke runs you $3.
That said, if you've got thrill-seeking little kids, then Great America is a great place to take them as there isn't many other options in Silicon Valley.

This is perhaps the most random store on Castro Street in Mountain View, but Tap Plastics carries a wide selection of different types of acrylic boards, of all colors, shapes, and sizes.
Tap plastics will also help you manufacture any sign or brochure kiosk or stand that you desire.
The staff is friendly and knowledgable; they can help you pick out the pieces of acrylic you need for your project or just make the project for you. We bought several sheets of transparent clear acrylic for a display we created, and the staff helped us pre-drill holes into the plastic so that it wouldn't crack after the drilling.
A great store for your sign and acrylic needs.

This quite California Ave. Mexican Restrauant serves some of the best mexican food in Palo Alto. It's located on California Ave, and you can find many people who work on Page mill Rd (e.g. HP Employees, Accenture employees) dining here on weekedays for lunch. It's less full at night, so dinner is a much more intimate meal if you want mexican food at night.
Some of the best dishes include the super burito ($9) filled with 3 types of meat and the Tortialla Soup ($7) which can be a meal in itself as the portions are huge.
The chips and salsa are all freshly hand-made and are complimentary with your meal. Definately a good place to get a high-quality, mexican meal.

Molly is the local nightclub and bar for mountain view locals. Thursday night is the happening night at Mollys when all the skanks in San Jose and the penninsula come to Molly's and party. There is a $5 cover charge only on Thursday nights, where they bring in a DJ and hundreds of people party the night way until Molly closes at 2 am.
Other nights, Molly is more low key and definately not crowded. It is a normal bar every other night, and I've never seen it filled with more than 30 people on a non-Thursday night.
Parking gets hairy on Thursday night, you may have to park several blocks away on the street.

Lozano's Brushless Car wash is an institution in Silicon Valley. They've done a great job cleaning all the crap off your car, and they clean both inside and out with their "standard" wash.
I even took my SUV to Lozano's after taking it to burning man. For those that have been out to the playa, your car gets seriously messed up as dust sneaks in everywhere. There was literally a half inch of dust on my car and the inside of my SUV was coated with dust too when I took it into Lozano's For $15 they got nearly all the dust out and my car was sparkling clean again. Amazing!
The greatest thing about Lozano's is that they mini-detail your car before getting it back to you. They wipe down everythign inside, and they even spray a little "fragrance" if you ask them to. A great full-service car wash!

I had a brand new audi that was full of problems, and took it to Carlsen Audi. Their service here was wacko. They chipped my windshield (though they were kind enough to "fill it in") and they were not able to fix or repair the defect in my brand new car.
I would have to say that the service here is mediocre for an Audi Dealership. When you pay $35k for a car, you expect better and people who are trained to fix issues.
Their service was so bad and the same problem kept happening that Audi had to buy back my car under the California lemon law. I would recommend that you take your car elsewhere, perhaps Stevens Creek Audi in San Jose, if you need your car repaired

Blue Chalk is more of a bar than a restruant, and fridays and saturday nights it's completely packed with stanford students trying to party the night away.
During the day, however, it is a full-service restrauant with a distinctively american fare. You can get burgers, sausages, pizza, chicken, and anything else you would find in a bar-turned-cafe venue.
At night, however, it becomes a pseduo-nightclub complete with bouncer checking drivers licenses. Inside is a DJ blasting bop-bop-bop-thump-bop tunes as well as several pool tables, shuffleboard, darts, and other bar-esque games.
There are 3 full bars: 2 downstairs and one upstairs that are often crowded at night with a 5-10 min wait to get drinks. Then again, that's what you expect for a psedo-hop bar next to a college campus.

Dr. Ratinoff works out of University Optometry, located on the corner of Middlefield and University Ave in Palo Alto. University Optometry is a botique glasses store, carrying a wide variety of fashion frames from Gucci to Gap.
Dr. Ratinoff is quite competent and his eye exams are quite lengthy and thorough. He checks for all the basic issues: myopia, glaucoma, far-sightedness, etc. He is able to prescribe both glasses and contact lenses, and has samples of many different kinds of lenses for you to try should you choose to go this route.

Pluto's is located on University Avenue in Palo Alto. It's often filled with hungry Stanford University students at all times of the day.
Pluto's serves cafeteria style food. You pick up a tray, order your choice of items a-la-carte (there is a daily special/combo that you can get)--get a salad, sandwich, or whatever you want, and then pay at the cashier.
A carved turkey sandwich costs, for example, $7 and a ceaser salad with chicken, as a main entree, costs around $10. The prices are resonable and rather cheap for the portions you get, and it's definately not "fast food" like you get at Burger King.
in all, it's a good deal. The cafeteria style, while kind of strange for a University Ave Restrauant at first, but you get used to it. It's a good eat for a good bargain.

This botique hotel, located in the heart of Times Square and near all the Broadway theaters, is a luxury hotel. But at $300 a night, you better expect all the luxury you can imagine.
They have turn down service several times a day here, and they leave a nice little biscotti on your pillow after they've made the bed.
For a New York City hotel, the hotel is spacious. The beds are huge, and the restroom is large and clean. The toiltries they supply are from a botique spa and are some of the nicest things I've ever seen in a hotel.
Best of all is the location; you can walk right out and catch any broadway show at any of the nearby theaters with less than a five minute walk.
